Title: My gripe for the night
Post by: Banshee7 on May 03, 2013, 12:14:37 AM
So tonight, I was sitting in my dorm by myself for a change, all of my roommates were out and about.  I took the opportunity to take advantage of the peace and quiet by watching a movie my roommates simply would not appreciate.  As I was searching through Netflix I found Twelve O'Clock High and turned it on.  As the movie was in its last hour or so, my roommate and his girlfriend came in and sat on the couch and watched the rest of it with me.  I knew neither one of them were interested in the movie at all, and this was affirmed by some of the smart comments that each of them made.  I just don't understand how someone can be so closed minded when it comes to watching movies, or anything else for that matter.  I know every person is different.  I guess it just rubbed me the wrong way when they made the comments.

That's my gripe for the night.

A 1940's black and white movie with the dated acting and dialog common to that period. What's not to like?

Really, you can't hold it against them. You have to have a strong interest in the subject matter to enjoy those old movies, if you don't, I could see how it might seem pretty lame.

That's the thing!  I started watching it Wednesday night and they came in within the first 5 minutes, so I turned it off.  Yesterday I turned it on while no one was there, so it wasn't like I was forcing them to watch it or anything.

Yeah, I completely agree.  I can sit around and watch old movies like that all day.  It's definitely not for everybody.  Like I said, I guess it was the fact that they even said anything when the movie ended that rubbed me the wrong way.

The girl was attractive, yes.

You better be an engineer if you are sitting in your dorm watching movies, otherwise you must be a loser.

On a completely unrelated note I watched that movie in my dorm room about a month ago on Netflix.

Long story short, I attend a private Christian college, and they're terms of "having a life" and mine do not mix.  Most of my fun is had on the weekends.  But during the week, I have no life  :(
