Bailing out has become boring now that nailers can instantly .ef. Why don't we make it the way it used to be but add the option for the pilot to dump his chute so that he will descend faster. Or put a time limit so that the chute can't .ef within 30 seconds of bailing out.

This is true for k/h, k/s and so one, but there is still a minor difference: Bailing instead of riding it down gives you 60%-100% more score points.
-
It would bring back the challenge trying not to get shot after you bail.
-
am I understanding, you want people to have to ride a chute all the way down (or 30 sec) instead of hitting .ef ?
why wouldn't they just not hit o

Same reason they won't just not hit o now, they'll die. The new system really gave a huge unfair advantage to bailers over chute shooters. I understand giving bailers an alternative to not waiting for 5 minutes as their chute descends before they can reup. I'm just asking for a happy medium, I don't think 30 seconds is that much to ask. Chute shooting is one of the things that made this a great game, it's a shame that most players today will never know this aspect of the game.

I don't think that's the reason.

How is trying to kill a virtually helpless player just for spite something that made it a "great game?"

Same question here Floob, don't understand that at all. About 90% of what you post looks like you're just trolling for fun, is this the case ?

same here...what :headscratch:
I always thought fighting and killing red guys was what made this game great............I guess I am doing it wrong

Apparently some people consider shooting a defenceless, practically stationary non-combatant as a (and I'm quoting here) "challenge" ...

Once you bail, you just died...same as if your plane exploded with you in it. What happens after you bail makes no difference to your score...you get a death and whoever shot your plane gets the kill. Forcing someone to remain hanging in their chute makes no sense and adds nothing to the game.

No, captured or bailed successfully do not count as deaths, but that's not the issue. Let me clarify. The old way when you bailed you couldn't end sortie until you touched down. Which players found tedious and I understand that, I'm not asking to return to that system. If you think somebody is doing something in this game to spite you or anybody else then you're taking what happens in this game personal, and that's sad. Shooting chutes was fun, shooting planes from a chute was fun. Unfortunately you'll just have to take my word for it because it's an aspect of the game that you guys will never or at most very rarely get to experience.

No, captured or bailed successfully do not count as deaths,
They do for the most part, see my explanation above.

no, what's sad is fooling yourself into believing shooting at parachutes is fun...the smell of twinkies is wafting from that room in the basement.

I miss the old squads.
Rule #3 of The Fat Drunk Bastards:
Chute shooting, Head-oning and Ditching: As these three issues are hot-potatoes in Aces High, the founders of FDB feel it necessary to issue rules to squad members regarding them. No member of FDB may shoot an opponent's chute unless they suspect him of whining at least once in his present or any former life. No member of FDB may head on an opponent unless the urge strikes them. No member of FDB may kill an opponent who is trying to ditch unless they are struck with the inspiration to do so. No member of FDB may ditch his plane unless he has to urinate really, really bad. Anyone who suspects an FDB member to be falsifying claims of bladder fullness to escape death by ditching should stop to consider how much alcohol must be consumed by said member to comply with the squad's blood alcohol requirement.

Shooting chutes is a great way of improving your aim. The guy at the end of the parachute presents a small target, getting so you can score direct hits on the little guy helps improve accuracy and the added bonus it pisses off the other guy which, alone, is a great reason to shoot chutes.
ack-ack

You know what, this actually..................... ....is a terrible idea!

Your virtual life doesn't end when you chute out and you can end other's virtual lives afterward.
