Hello ladies and Gents,
It has reached that time of my gaming life. My stick is dying. Slowly but surely. It has lived a long and prosperus life and so no sad tears shall be shed for it. However I do now need to find a replacement.
A quick browse on Ebay has come up with the Saitek X52 stick and throttle set. I was wondering if anyone used it here and if so what did you make it of it? Also is it a twist stick? It's a bit hard to make out in the picture and nothing is mentioned in the description.
So people, whats your opinions?

Its a twisty stick, I have one and use it.
Some people have good luck with them and some don't.
I had to take mine apart last year and clean it, I blew some compressed air and then used a lubricating cleaning spray on the pots...works just fine now.
There is no place to get replacement parts that I can find.
From what I have heard CH products last longer and can get replacement parts, or used to be able anyway. CH sticks are not twisty and need rudder pedals.
The saitek I have now i about 4 years old, I had a refurbished set before and lasted a little over a year and the hat swicth went bad. The set I have now I bought used from ebay for 50.00

I think I have had my x52 since 2005. Not sure when I started playing ah, but got the stick less than a year in. I have had little issue, except the occasional cal issues. I some day have to disassemble it to clean it as others have done, I heard it is not real hard to do.
It is a twisty stick, a billion hats and buttons puts nearly everything at your thumbtips. Do we have thumbtips? Fingertips yes, not sure on thumbtips......

hey mac ;)
4+yrs on my X52 Pro and its still working great apart from the hatswitch. like catb said no spare parts, which is a shame as the rest of it is fine, and no way to repair the worn plastic or dodgy microswitch. I do have exceptionally powerful thumbs though :D

Mine is 4 to 5 years old. No problems. The trick may be to use a powered usb hub with it. I did from day one. It is a twisty but can be lock :bolt:ed if you get pedals. Plenty of button, hat switches, and two rotary dials for trim. Love mine.
