Just bought a new machine and I have an issue with the game crashing to desktop. Once the AH screen goes away, I get the notification that the CPU usage is high. Here is my dxdiag information. Any help would be great! Thanks.

CPU usage should be high. Is this computer using passive cooling for the CPU? If so, HP may have included a safe guard to prevent the load on the CPU from being too high to keep it from burning up.
Just a thought, as I am not sure why any operating system would complain about CPU usage.
-
one thing that really bugs me about the big computer mfg's, the oddball ram configurations. and they never really get it right...
take the time to get rid of all the crap software, including the anti-virus that was loaded on it. make sure you're running the latest available drivers for everything.
did you happen to notice there isn't a real video card in that system? it's using the gpu that amd decided was a good idea to embed on their fx and apu processors. they are not really adequate for gaming, but they will work with some tweaking.
-
Gyrene, could you please explain your comment about the video card: According to http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03639067&prodSeriesId=5330773 (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03639067&prodSeriesId=5330773) the picture of the HD7570 looks very much like a video card to me. I agree that it's not the most powerful, but it should beat any Intel circuit anytime. Plus the HP document says clearly that
Integrated graphics are not available on this motherboard.
Is there something I didn't understand correctly in the DxDiag information that tells the video card isn't a real one?

thank you for pointing that out Bizman. i had searched on amd's website for the 7570, even under the oem and all i found was a spec sheet that didn't show 2gb of onboard memory. that lead me to believe the 7570 was an upgrade to the 7560 graphics chip used on some apu processors. so looking deeper, it appears the 7570 included by hp is a pc vendor graphics card.

the first time i did a search that link never came up...

Thanks Gyrene. Reading DxDiags or logs is not my strongest area. Instead I seem to be doing quite good in finding the right words for googling. For example this case opened up by simply making a search for "h8-1534" which gave the HP documentation among the top five. Actually I was looking for overexaggerations about the rig's gaming abilities... :salute

Skuzzy,
It's been my experience that in most of these case where it's a CTD type disconnect that some background program has decided it's time to update or some such thing and as you know AH will shut down if resource are inadequate.
I always try to tell players to shut down any AV,Itunes, etc programs when playing and to set the updates to manual or atleast to load on boot up. Although it seems many don't seem to reboot the comp often.... cant see wasting all that hydro for nothing myself!
YMMV.

True. It is an HP computer so it is loaded with bloatware.

Yes it is.. I have a lot of crap I'm trying to disable (thanks Windows 8). Do you have the good link for the old FSAutostart? I tried to download it and install it on my old computer and it didn't work correctly. I know that program can tell me what stuff I can disable.
When it comes to the internal workings of a computer, I'm clueless!
-
FS Autostart latest version on that name can be downloaded here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/FSAutoStart.shtml (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/FSAutoStart.shtml)
The sequel of it is AlacrityPC, available here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/alacritypc/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/alacritypc/)
The latter may work better in Win8, the former being from 2004.
