Post by: DropFoot on May 10, 2013, 06:26:02 AM
Red and green icons turning to white at times. Is this normal?

sounds like a driver issue for your video card. Post a copy of the first third of your computers Dxdiag report for the gurus to look at.

Don't think that's the problem. At least 2 members of my squad are having this problem. We have different video cards.

I'm mildly challenged about computers. I have no idea what that means. your tolerance is badly needed in this respect.

Here (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,71591.msg3215282.html#msg3215282) are the instructions to get the DXDIAG output to a file (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,71591.msg3215282.html#msg3215282).  Simply copy and paste the section with the general, video, and sound card information to a post.

I have the same problem. Friend and Foe tags both show white or greyish for most of the time; additionally the text that says "auto take off enabled" will turn white if I look around the cockpit while it is on display then change back to green as I center my view again. Occasionally, the tags will display the correct colors but most of the time they don't. If it helps I am running Win8 64 bit OS, with a Nvidia GeForce GT 730M, and as of 6/7/13 I have installed the latest driver for the graphics card with no evident change to the problem after said driver update/install. Have also tried the trick of completely uninstalling AH then reinstalling AH and still the problem persists. I have checked all the color settings in the AH in-game GUI and they are set properly. I'm at the end of my capabilities/knowledge.

I have my DXDIAG output saved, would it be better to post it here or email it, skuzzy?

Either works, posting the first third (all of it won't fit in a single post and the top third is all that is needed) here will get get you more techs looking at it, and more help.

Email is great, but it is only answered Monday through Friday.

Pops, a couple of things come into my mind: First, the GT730M is the third weakest card in the 700 series. Second, have you checked your computer uses the 730 instead of the 2D-card of your laptop?

Third, have you set all your graphics settings in AH to the minimum to start with?

Hi Bizman, I have lowered all settings and it made no difference for this issue. I'll double check to be certain my lap top is running graphics on the card but I don't think it has any other option. I do know others are/were having this issue and the one I spoke to briefly while in the main arena the first evening I tried to use my new comp. had a different lap top and card. Most of what has been posted here was done by my visiting son. He is much more computer savvy than I am. Thanks for the ideas.

Open the games "Video Settings" and it will show you what video card is being used.

Also note, you will need to disable any and all power management in the laptop.  This includes the new power management options, in the BIOS, that Intel has built into the CPU itself.

Generally speaking, make sure the "Maximum Texture Size", in the games "Video Settings" is set to 256, and set the anti-alias slider to 0.  See if that helps.

In the games "Video Settings", please let me know exactly what video card is shown being used.

Well Skuzzy I went back to double check the video setting to see what was being used---guess what-- I missed that it was running the integrated gpu instead of my card--problem is solved! Thank you, Thank you, thank you! pops out :salute :aok :D
