Think east coast.  Appalachia and Missouri (maybe?) will put you right where you need to be.   :aok
:airplane: A DC-9 crashed in New Hope, Georgia, sometime, if I remember right in the late 70's. A captain flew into a "hail shaft" at about 18,000 feet, resulting in loss of power both engines along with handling problems. Crashed landed on old Georgia hwy 92, if I remember correctly, but problem was telephone poles beside highway, right wing hit one, spun a/c into a grocery store parking lot. Can't remember number of dead, but there were many who lived, including the flight crew. Hail is very dangous whether in the air or on the ground!! LOL
Southern Fight 242 (Huntsville-Atlanta) entered severe thunderstorms between FL170 and FL140 over Rome, GA. Both engines failed and couldn't be restarted. An emergency landing was carried out on State Spur Highway 92. The aircraft crashed.

PROBABLE CAUSE: "Total and unique loss of thrust from both engines while the aircraft was penetrating an area of severe thunderstorms. The loss of thrust was caused by the ingestion of massive amounts of water and hail which, in combination with thrust lever movement, induced severe stalling in and major damage to the engine compressors.
Major contributing factors include the failure of the company's dispatching system to provide the flight crew with up-to-date severe weather information pertaining to the aircraft's intended route of flight, the captain's reliance on airborne weather radar for penetration of thunderstorm areas, and limitations in the FAA's ATC system which precluded the timely dissemination of real-time hazardous weather information to the flight

This is a copy of NTSB report after investigation.

Hail is truly a 4 letter word to me.  So is fire.  So is wind.  I'm your friendly neighborhood insurance claims adjuster.   :D   Last summer I did about 130 hail claims, 55 wind claims, and about 30 fire claims (I did around 400 claims total).  Most of them in the eastern half of South Dakota.  About 20 of my claims for hail were in Norfolk, NE.  The company I worked for had over 700 claims for hail thanks to late April hail storm.  Not cool.

The sad thing is most people have no clue what their insurance policy covers or does not cover, and what the difference between "replacement" and "actual cash value".  If you have 20 year old shingles and your roof is totaled thanks to hail or wind damage, and you bought a policy based on price then don't be surprised when your adjuster hands you a check for %20 of the cost to repair your roof.

Post by: Grayclif on May 13, 2013, 10:07:21 AM
Anyone else want to tango?

I have suspended appearences in the DA in part because of 2 reasons:

1.) Too many challenges, and a waste of my time as I win every fight there and I get nothing in return.

2.) There have been numerous PM's and BBS posts challenging me, and then I go over to DA and end up furballing for an hour. Again, I get nothing for this. I live in a capitalist nation folks, I expect a sound return on my investment, which in this case, is my time. Time is valuable to me.

Thank you all,

The Grayclif

Title: My letter to SirNuke
Post by: Grayclif on May 16, 2013, 12:57:14 PM
Sirnuke, You poor miserable soul. I hope you have a good day. Try a nice Padron cigar, pour yourself a good scotch and cheer up.

You should put yourself in my shoes for a day, and then AH would seem really special to you.

Everyday, I get to fly with a 5 year old Dell Inspiron 1525. I run the most generic graphics and sound you can possibly run and I get an avg frame rate of 4-9 fpm. 12 in the early morning hours when 70 people are on.

My Saitek ST-290 pro is 9 years old and the spring is so stiff that I feel like I have been driving a stick shift in busy traffic after an hour of game play.

The game never downloads correctly for me, and parts of all of my airplanes will appear neon green or pink at times.

Lastly, after 12 years of play I still have never mastered gamma settings. My planes bobble all over the place with just the slightest touch of the stick or a pull of the trigger. Especially the rudder. The ball wobble is a nightmare and trying to aim consumes every bit of steadyness I can muster. A touch of the rudder either way makes my plane wobble from side to side 4 or 5 times before self centering.

Anyway, you get the idea. Things are probably not so bad on your end.

Enjoy your day.

Love,

Yes. And it was much better and you didn't get that stupid 1999 era "dont move your controls so rapidly" message as much.
i think the problem is more the way you ham hock the controls than anything else. i stopped getting the "don't move your controls so rapidly" message the second i figured out how to handle the planes...once you figure out it's not like afterburner down at the local arcade, you won't get the message anymore.

then again, you might need a new stick...want me to help you buy one? i know of a great thrustmaster model that is very sturdy and easy to work with.

unfortunately it cannot be reproduced here due to some rather graphic sexual imagery and we're both trying to keep things quiet so our respective girlfriends don't find out

Grayclif if you join The Few squadron you will be given a better graphics model, and as you know the rudder will go back to auto correcting itself, you will get aimbot powers and the ability to turn tracers on/off at will

please submit your application to zack1234 who recently deposed Bruv as Commander in Chief

^^ Was this by mutual consent or through a squad mutiny?

there was a scandal in the ranks and the word mutual was in fact involved :old:

Bruv is too busy choosing curtain patterns and grouting his bathroom to lead the squad higher than #1 in the rankings and so zack has taken the helm to bring us further than we've ever been before

it is a very exciting time although some of his training instructions are a bit odd, he told us not to tell our parents about it though or the police

I fail to see how this relates to anything. My whine in that other thread was relative to gameplay, I can stand the mediocre graphics and actually don't use ground details because of how the water is poorly rendered and negates any perception of relative altitude to the ground. But don't get me started there.

Maybe when you get out of your basement to work you'll be able to afford a 3 screen eyefinity setup, core i5 PC with a stick throttle and pedals.

Somehow I feel this is a waste of key strokes.

Sounds like you don't have any clue about how to calibrate your joystick.

ack-ack

While my score may not be better, the tactics that employ are much more respectable. Plus, I don't run to the forum "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" when I'm well aware of my level of suckage.

Just ignore the baffoon my friend and keep him whining.   It's sad to see folks carry grudges and bring garbage to the BBS.   Sadly, that is the extent of their life.   You always were a pleasure to fly around.
