So I searched the threads and understand, that 176,176,176 for transparency...however, whenever I save it as the 256 bitmap, it says it will reduce the color or some such error, then when I close and re-open file, the 176s have turned into 192s
Anyone have a similar problem, do I have to use something other than "paint"?
Caveat: It does hold the 176 value if I save it as the 24bit BMP, but as I understand that is not acceptable for upload...?
This is the 256 version

The 24bit version

Also, I thought it would be transparent on the webpage too...?
Is using PNG format ok?

Here is a nice write up on nose arts. http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,259637.0.html
The issue your having is when you convert to 256 color bmp. I think you have to use "indexing". The tutorial uses a 3rd party program "Brite" to do it.
