Last summer, I had to use vacation time so our son could attend summer school for a barely missed class. So far this year, his senior year of high school, he has made honor roll all of the first three quarters. On top of that, he was student of the month in one of the months for his continuing and to us remarkable individuality, and the video he made for a class discussing that individuality, which is linked below. Yesterday, he received a first place award for that documentary at the Castleton Videofest at Castleton State college. This was first place in the state of Vermont, needless to say we are damn proud of what he has done.
Anyway, anyone in the Lebanon NH area on Thursday May 23 can also see him on the drums in his band The Guys in the Upper Valley Battle of the Bands.

Thanks everyone, we too are very happy. Especially me, who knows what it I like to slack through school just getting by. I could have done so much more, but hated the thought of it. Never really got focused until I met my wife, so we are very glad he has a good idea now.

Its amazing what someone with a little motivation can do.
I was in the exact situation, where you have the intelligence, but not the commitment to go on and do it, but when things depend on it, you can be amazed at what they achieve.
As for your son's topic, I must admit being a bit conservative in viewpoint, I don't like the whole "guyliner" thing, but as a libertarian society, it is the very foundation of what we believe that no one should be able to judge a persons choices unless they are infringing the law.
I liked it :)
P.S
How I saved my bellybutton in what you Americans would call "sophmore" year
