Title: Kidney stones
Post by: USRanger on May 12, 2013, 10:40:11 PM
I tried flying tonight while trying to pass a kidney stone.  Did not do too well.  I was trying to get my mind off the searing pain for a bit, but it didn't work.  I was easy prey the few sorties I flew.  This is the 3rd stone I've ever had.  The doc says it's 3mm & I'll be able to pass it whenever it feels like coming out.  The last one I had was stuck up near my kidney & they had to go up and pull it out with a little claw.  You can guess which body opening they used to go up & get it.  Thank Gawd I was asleep for that one.  It's been 5 years.  I'd forgotten how bad these suckers hurt! I feel for ya bro. My Dad is a kidney stone makin machine! Thankfully I didn't get that gene from him. I've been around him enough when it's happened to him to just be glad it hasn't happened to me <knock on wood>. I think one of the Lithotripters is named for him LOL.

Hope it passes.

Believe it or not beer helps prevent kidney stone agony. From what I have heard it forces the kidneys to work overtime and this helps flush kidney stones out when they are small enough to pass without notice.

Are they Food related? I thought maybe too much calcium intake could cause them? My brother sweared off milk after getting a few stones. I never have had one. (knock on wood)  :D
