After looking at all the closed threads here in the last couple weeks I have come to the conclusion that a simple change could cut almost all of it out.
Users for the bbs have to use the same handle they fly under. No second registrations for bbs purposes.
Second option, you must use your real info to register for the bbs. No second registration and you must use a positive form of ID to register. (credit card or something else)
If you do the same kind of stuff that has gotten the threads closed in the last week you get booted off the bbs and not allowed on, period.
What ya think?

I'm all for it. The only real downer is that if your account lapses, and you restart, you have to change your ID.
I am 100% behind the correct personal information part though.

and the people who leave the game is banned?
Thought this was a public forum... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

[edit]I agree on the second idea, BTW[/edit]

I would do this but someone has taken the name "Wobble" on here already so i have to use "TheWobble"....who the hell took my name anyway I never see it.

Actually RAM, this is by definition a private forum put up by HTC. They allow it to be public, but since it's own and operated by them they can do as they wish with it.
However, I think you should be allowed to read the BBS no matter what but I don't see how you can contribute to the AH general discussion if you aren't actively involved in the game?
Besides, if you close your account the BBS account won't be closed. It's just tied to that account so if there's trouble, they can axe your access to posting and you'd have trouble starting up a new account.

Actually RAM it isn't a public forum.
It is owned by a private corporation.

RAM, you gotta use the right smileys from now on. When you put that googly eyed smiley after a sentence it means your rolling your eyes. Kinda like "whatever dude.." or something. I dunno it's hard to put facial expressions into words.

RAM has it right--
People who can't actually play the game would be left out using that system (including me). While HTC has no obligations to people who don't pay for their product, believe me, it GREATLY adds to this community to allow anyone to post--especially considering the poor community support in the actual game (which is AH's only real downside). Basically, HTC saves themselves from having to expand the game interface by supplying these boards instead.
Also--just because someone doesn't pay for the game doesn't mean that they can't have a good idea or foster a good discussion. Furthermore, through the H2H feature non-paying people can still use the game, so their input definately IS valid.
AirWarrior, for example, uses the system you recommend--you have to be a subscruber to use the messageboards. While their boards have an excellent little community, VERY FEW new people ever say "hi" there and generally it's somewhat stagnant. Not necessarily a bad thing--there are VERY few "bad posts"--but decidedly different from THIS messageboard. AirWarrior's system suits them very well, I feel, because the game itself supports their community. However, that system wouldn't necessarily apply well to Aces High.
As a comparison--total posts on THIS messageboard per day: Hundreds. On AW's boards: 50-75 on average. Aces High's boards are MUCH more active.
Each system has its advantages. But be aware, there are also disadvantages.
I feel that Aces High NEEDS a widely-available messageboard, because in-game community support is decidedly lacking. I feel that, unlike AirWarrior, if Aces High limited acces to their boards it would hurt the game more than help it--at least until AH has better built-in community support.

Note: I also like this game enough as to want to be able to keep up on the various discussions, and make what small contributions I can to discussions.

There are people flying H2H, Wulfe. And most of them are not paying members.
REgarding the smilie, the last one was a (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif). and that is a clear sign that It was AIGF (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

True.. forgot about the H2H portion. But it could still be tied into the information you supply for your account. Each account has a BBS subscription tied in. You lose access to the BBS only if you are kicked off. You keep access even if you close your paying account.
EDIT: I mean accounts as in H2H and paying accounts not just paying accounts. H2H accounts are free, but your UBB usage is tied to that account. This probably still wouldn't work though because you can make an unlimited amount of H2H accounts. And who wants to put in CC information to use a UBB? That and people could put in fake CC #s because HTC couldn't charge to them just to use the UBB so they can't verify if the CC # really exists. I think anyway.
I don't actually really care, I was just commenting on the feasibility of the idea. It's kinda funny to read those posts where guys act all tuff on a message board. ;-) <---that's a wink RAM!! :-)
The one you posted at the end of the sentence is rolling his eyes, that's why I took it a different way.

Humm... I think that I do. A Mac pilot here, so not a lot of flight time on AH.
But I think that I do add to overall game even though I can't fly on it.
Yet.

I've seen you post in the Aircraft and Vehicles forum. Not sure if you've posted in others. You've always had something good to post and I read quite a few of your posts.
I was wrong and I'm sorry, I jumped the gun without thinking it through.
My brain failed to turn on but my fingers sure wanted to type.. my mistake.
