Ghi, without researching this what are the potential outcomes next week? I'm guessing cell phone problems. When is the last time this happened?

Yes, run for the hills, kiss that hot chick at the Piggly Wiggly before the day of doom hits...but other than these items, what could we expect?

Welcome to solar maximum.

Are we not currently in solar minimum, ramping up to soalr max in 4-8 years? That was one of the anti-end-of-the-world reasons. We were in the solar minimum cycle.

....Our sun is like a bubble gum bubble.... going to pop all over us with-out warning.

I'm not sure you want to be in direct sunlight when the flares are line of sight to you.

We are at solar maximum right now, and the biggest for more than a hundred years.

Flares like this are a BIG problem for any proposed trip to Mars. This radiation can be deadly to astronauts and it is a problem without a present solution.

Pardon me, the 2012 end of the world comment should have read: At the time in 2012 we were not yet at solar maximum but rather on the upward climb of solar activity. I should have clarified.

But saying "biggest for more than a hundred years" does not make the this solar maximum "the biggest"... Considering that data has only been recorded over the past 100 years.
