Not the tankers that stay waaaaay back there in a highly perked tank on the hill.
I am talking about the guys that will come right up to YOUR berm and shoot you point blank.
You know he is coming and you better not miss because you won't get a second chance.
He will chase you around the berm, come over the top, or peak and pull back to get you to waste a shot,
then nail you during the reload, hide on a v-base........He is sneaky. You absolutely won't take a perked tank out there when he is lurking about because you know you will lose it and almost always gets you. He kicks, scratches, pulls your hair, or even bites............. but you enjoy fighting him.
That's what makes tanks fun :aok
Here is my list (not in any particular order ) I probably forgot a couple,
But I can always post 'em later.

only ones off top of my head are top of their class in GV's, many others are decent shots, but you rarely see them not camping or in a horde. This list is based on best tankers from over a year ago.

We have tanks!?? :O :huh
The only one I can remember being good with tanks is Mjsmoke. I've heard dr7 is good in tanks too.

mjsmokes and Dr7 are the most pestering and annoying tankers Ive ever delt with, top two in fact. I would add the LTAR's back in the day, but fact only the Panzer and Tiger were out back then - nobody had GV perks to face them, even then Tigers were indestructible.

I'm just going of what I've heard. I spend far more time in fighters, so I don't know all the great GVers.

Any tanker who actually approaches an enemy field while his 34 countrymates can't for some bizarre reason.

You know when things have went bad in game when a tank back slapping thread appears in an air combat game forum :uhoh

So why did Hitech Add vehicles to an exclusive Air combat game then?

So why did Hitech Add vehicles to an exclusive Air combat game then?
Probably to enhance the capture element. But, honestly, you'd have to ask him.
Personally, even though I'm not so drawn to tanking, I like it in the game.
What I like, even more, are carrier/fleet ops. :D

Anyone that will drive off of concrete is aggressive in my book. :aok
-
tanking is a great part of the game. i enjoy it thoroughly. while its not everyone's bag, it shouldn't be dismissed by those that would rather not partake either. many people enjoy the many different aspects of the game.

We have tanks in Aces High?
Oh, those red things on the ground I bomb. Right - right. :bolt:
-
Anyone that will drive off of concrete is aggressive in my book. :aok
+1 Same for those who stays below 10k in a furball, or buffs who fly under 20k.
-
No one is safe in a tank against the Grayclif. I will bomb**** all of you into oblivion. And I will destroy tank town, and keep TT bases shut down too! And that goes for you and your little dog!
-
Dr7..... I agree with butcher, the LTARS back in the day were damn good... Also, and I may be biased because he is a squaddie, but Fester is a beast in GV's... just sayin...
-
So why did Hitech Add vehicles to an exclusive Air combat game then?
Beats me, personally when I went to sign up it was because it was an airplane game, although gvs seem to becoming an increasing factor in the gameplay last few years to the detriment of the air combat side.

Tanks are a great way to get new players interested in the game. You have to remember most gamers don't have flight sim controllers, but you don't need them for tanking.
My most gratifying gv kills are the ones where I had to drive out someplace, bag some kills and then drive home. Aggressive tanking is like hunting, it takes patience, discretion and awareness. Of course sitting near an enemy base in a wirble ambushing formations of heavy bombers taking off is gratifying too. :t

Desperation.

Tanking is interesting when you have been in this game so long as an airplane driver you've forgotten to check how many GV perks you have. TigerII's are fun and almost invincible. But, which fool let bombers carry bombs? You up a TigerII and every swinging joystick slammer in the sector shows up specifically to carpet bomb you with three lancasters from 1000ft.
I think now I'm getting why I see very few of them off the concrete. They cost almost as much as a 262. Last night it was 160 points. Then the lancasters came. Oh lawsy the lancasters drove through and smothered me with carpets of exploding affection. Now if I could only figure out how to aim with that zeiss ranging sight it might be worth carpeting me. 1 kill for almost 50 rounds fired.
GV's stink if I'm in them......
-
wardog19 and bucket. Both are way too aggressive.
I have to point out, Mano, that you don't have to step off of the concrete when you can hit and kill at ranges beyond 5k. I recently went off concrete with a T2 and scored more than two dozen kills, but the rooks were ravenous for that T2, probably because of the achievement you can get from killing one. I even had a lightsabre-type scrap (he was climbing around inside my T2 - how gamey is THAT?) with one dweeb in his M18 that didn't know how to kill a T2 even from twenty feet. I mean it's embarrassing sometimes how shook up people get! hehe

You'll have to wait on the lightsabre fight. I'm still working on the special effects for that film.

I get a little tired after flying to many combat missions, with self awareness and SA - monitoring fuel and such, after a half dozen I enjoy sitting in a tank where the battlefield is usually only 7k long and 7k wide - short combat where SA really doesnt matter if you have numbers or not, just point and click.
-
Aggressive tankers push forward leaving concrete behind no matter what, and re-up endlessly coming back with dogged determination... :old:
-
Yeah.....those guys who reup over and over instead of looking around or listening from the tower which would reveal the enemy tank camping the hangar.
-
Compare tanks to planes in game
T-34/85= spit 16
M4-75. =F4F
Tiger2. = 262
Ect,ect
Any ideas?

I'll have to agree with this. After 2-3 hours of frenzied air sorties, the ground game lets me slow down a bit. You will usually find me in a GV or field/ship gun late at night. Better than trying to drill holes in the ground over and over when I am tired....lol
-
M3 w/75 is all I drive. It's a lot of fun.
There ain't nothin but aggression for it.

It was not my intention to put down the tankers in the Heavy Tanks, but give some attention to the guys in medium armor tanks. They really are fun to fight. The Heavy Tankers have their role and niche in the game, ie. base defense, protecting the spawn, and so on. I can start a thread later on the Heavy Tankers. There certainly are allot of them that are absolutely untouchable when the enemy ords are down. They find that one spot in the terrain where there is no cover and kill anything that approaches. :salute
Some more medium armor tankers that come to mind are:
Wardog19
Farflite
Dcat,
Bucket,
Dr7
They just keep coming after you. LOL

What do you mean by aggressive?
Quite a bit of variance in the names presented so far and my definition of aggressive. No doubt all of those mentioned so far are great/good shots, but aggressive...
As glbade once said "Walleye is out here in the middle (of spawn) and wants to fight like John Wayne."
I'd say trying to hunt down another gv that's heading toward concrete to land kills while cutting through the middle of a spawn and subjecting yourself to many other ways to die is pretty aggressive. Yet so is upping a Pz 4F or the like 5,6,7 or so odd times to kill that heavy is pretty aggressive too -when knowing your chances are slim...
Subjective list and I think it would be a long list, but I did give you two and endorse Wezel making the list.
:salute

Nothing to gloat about, but myself and Hooter made one hell of a pair of tankers when it came to shutting down a GV spawn - ProJoee from the 367th proved himself a damn good tanker he just prefers to fly.
Only time I seen 3 people land over 100+ kills in a tank in one sortie, I just wish I knew what happen to Hooter - I think my former buddy has passed on (he was over 70 and had recently beat cancer) I think it might of came back.
We would sit at an empty spawn for hours just chatting away, if I had to buy anyone a beer he'd get two without question. That and he taught me everything I knew about tanking, something I really never took serious until he let me tag along one day.
Because of him I used to teach in the Training arena for a while (unofficially) just to teach tankers some basics, I could never be a trainer but one thing a few of the people learned off me is if you are aggressive enough and learn to tank, you can outflank your opponent and win just as in a Duel in an aircraft.
/unless some sweetheart sits on concrete with a Tiger 2 then things get really interesting
-
Yeah that's pretty much the opposite of aggressive tanking.
-
when did spawn camping turn into "aggressive tanking" Butcher?
pretty sure the term is meant for people who roll around the field looking for enemy armor, not sitting within view of a spawn point waiting...
-
I use spawns to spawn in......nothing else because there isn't anything interesting there.
The fields are where the action is at.
-
I actually enjoy taking a Tiger2 off the base, yes I have been bomb****ed alot, but I have had fun evading way off the base as well. Hide and seek is always fun. :x
-
I pwn tanks all the time and I dont need an egg :old: er
But they do come in other forms that pawn back. :devil

You ever faced a GV mission before? or at least 20 GV's on both sides attacking? If not - up at tank town and see if you can survive 60 seconds, actually it should be an achievement :)
-
For some reason they always approach straight from the spawn.
-
I love the tank aspect myself..im in one often.the only time i dont care for them is when Limbo0 is parked in a T34 on my airfield runway and hanger and wont let me up :lol :bhead gave him about 12 free kills that night..no matter where i tried to launch from LOL
-
Who do you think are the most aggressive TANKERS in the LWA ?
It isn't any GV'er sitting at a spawn point hoping for a EZ kill.
One of the things that bugs me about the new "spawn camp" Tanker is
I have seen as many as 35 guys at a spawn point.... waiting. And you tell them...
" Their is knowone between you and the base go get it!" And none move in fear of missing
a kill.
He!!.... I have dropped the VH that spawns to the point, fly over and tell them it is down
and they still will not make a move to the base/town... but they will sit for 15 mins for the VH to pop
back up.

One of the things that bugs me about the new "spawn camp" Tanker is
Spawncamping isn't new in any way. When I joined AH in 2005, there was a lot of spawn camping going on at that time, with certain "sure" spawns being covered by a dozen guys, many of them in the (at that time) near invincible Tiger (I was one of them). Landing 50+ kills in a single session wasn't all that rare.
-
I first saw spawn camping in doom multiplayer.
Been around at least that long.

I had another of many encounters with airstud. Talk about sneaky and aggressive this guy takes the cake. Sure I get my kills on him but at the end of the day for every kill he gets 3, 5 or more on me. I seen him sit and long range and ive seen him up close and personal.
I would put him at the top dude is atank stud lol

I self harm when I do something really stupid in a fighter, punish myself by upping a GV then hit a guy 3 times he turns looks at me funny then one shots you in exactly the same GV.
 Put it down to lag or the fact I suck / GV ing sucks. Might aswell go play the lottery. Then re-up a plane and think why did I just waste my time doing that :D
Also have to disagree with the new icon settings, I was in a wirb the other day sitting in a Bish town. They, what I call desperado upped, Knew town was white and troops were trying to get in. Myself and Seagle amassed 20 kills between us in the space of 3 minutes or so because they just flew over us repeatedly.

"24 years in a real tank"
DAT and CDAT :bolt:
Man, we used to see you poor guys changing a tread in waist deep, cold muddy water in Germany.
I was glad to be an 11C when I saw that.
Was assigned to 3 Armor Bn's when I was in - support of the tanks. Mid 80's.
Also did Border augmentation for 4/4 Cav.
But 24 years? Officer or enlisted?
Must have retired LTC? Or 1SG? CSM? by then no?
Thanks for your Service :salute

I am the most aggressive tanker, since I drive toward the enemy and die almost immediately.
