I have had a hard time getting on here and playing in the past few months because of money and work and going back to school full time for Fire Science
Degree. I have found a good little game though if you like the "Empire Total War" and any of the other "Total War" series games there is a game out there that is based on the Civil War and has the same Style of play as the Total War series. Its called "Scourge of War Gettysburg" its a Real Time Strategy game but seems like a good group of guys just like all of you.
http://www.matrixgames.com/products/441/details/Scourge.of.War:.Gettysburg
There is a small online community but it is a fun game to play beyond purchasing the game there is no fee to play. I hope to see some of the guys from here maybe pick it up sometime and play a little. Obviously I wouldnt expect anyone to leave this game completly it is to great a game and I have been trying to tell some from that community to come here and check this game out too which a couple have.
The online portion is best played through this site: http://www.sowmp.com/gcm/.
They/we do use teamspeak so for those of you that already use it you will appreciate that. I am hoping to be back on here soon though not sure when that will be. I do miss the guys I did get along with and play with regularly.
Hope to see you back in time

looks cool, does it play better than the civil war mod for empire?
:O the expansions are more expensive!!??? $80 for the digital download of antietam!!! wow
-
I never played the mod from empire honestly. I didnt pay that much more the expansion think it was like 19 bucks for anteitam and 29.99 for the gettysburg, however the MP site i gave a link to really doesnt use the maps they have their own maps they built that are used its a quick DL and free, so really only reason to buy expansions is for your own pleasure in Single Player

For those that are interested or want to find out more if you follow the MultiPlayer link I provided now is a good time to get on there and talk to some of the people the majority of them get on around now and play. If you have Teamspeak that is best cause thats where they all are.

Numbers are really starting to climb a bit which is good to see makes the emmersion even better when you have a full on battle with 35,000 troops on each side of the field fighting for an objective. Hope some of you are picking this up and trying it out. There is a free demo for the game as well so you can see if it is something you want to try.

I used to play the Avalon Hill board game, Gettysburg in the advanced form...talk about more counters than you could handle. I've also played R.E Lee, Civil War General. I'll be checking this one out.

Glad to hear it Copper, its a fun game only downside is getting enough people interested in it to be able to play more in the earlier hours of the day (est) usually doesnt pick up until around 4pm or so. Let me know what your name is on there if you do decide to sign up, and that goes for anyone on here that plays over there.

Reminds me of a game I played growing up on the old family computer.
I think it was called Civil War Generals 2? I wish I could find that game and play it again lol
-
CWG2 was one of my fave games during high school. I wish they would update/rerelease it or something similar.

Awesome glad to see some nterest in this has been sparked. I have played the Sid Meiers Gettysburg but thats been a long time ago but as I remember it was a pretty good game. Never played the CWG2, I am intrigued now, though it sounds like it might not even be playable anymore.
