Starting tomorrow night we will run pre-loaded pick up missions to showcase the features of the avaburma terrain you can read about here:
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,348830.0.html
For those unfamiliar with pick up missions, here is some info on how they will be done in AvA.
Pick up missions will start at approximately 8pm est.
On the clipboard, click on staged missions. In the name of
the mission there is a briefing location where you can go to
read what the mission is about.
The base from which the mission launches will not always be the
base where the briefing is.
Once you accept a mission if you start another flight, you
will be removed from the mission and will have to rejoin it
if you still have time to.
When the mission starts, you will automatically spawn to the
mission start field and runway. You can be in the tower or O-club
anywhere on the map, and you will still spawn into the mission as
long as you haven't started another flight.

As I continue to establish minimum community standards:
I could not figure out how to get the briefing. Seems to me I picked a Hurri I mission that was set to launch in about 5 minutes. It did launch at the appropriate time, but I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do (once I puzzled out how to raise the gear).
What was I missing?

First, understand that these are not staged missions with AI. We do not yet have that capability for AvA and there is no guarantee that there will be anyone in an opposing mission.
Some missions like combat air patrol or defensive missions are useless there are players flying the opposing mission. Others, like target recon and attack missions you can still accomplish even if there is no opposition.
The briefing is in the title of the mission. Example: 1A Brief @V6 Oclub = mission 1 allies briefing is at v6 oclub
You simply go to base V6 Oclub, and there is your briefing. You can do this prior to joining a mission or after.
Missions do not necessarily launch from the same base where you go to read the briefing.
As long as you do not take up another plane, you will launch in the mission regardless of which base tower or Oclub you are at.

Excellent! Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Oh, nevermind my "finally" comment. Still waiting.
