Raises hand as one of the old AW 1.4 farts.

286 10 MHZ had a wopping 8 FPS, it screemed as commpared to that 8 MHZ machine. Ahh the days of PC only speakers where the word Ping realy ment a Ping.

HT, any idea how fast CK ran fps wise?

I remember I had a 486DX4/100 with 16MB of RAM and a 1MB Vid card and CK appeared to scream even with the rolling terrain and running in 640x480. Of course it could of been because the only frame of reference I had was AOE/AOTP.

In CK version .91, I was known as wdge.  It was amazing back then, on my 486 DX 40 with 8 megs of ram.  I ran it on 320X200 and had a blast, but it seemed unbelievably clear with 640X480 on my roomate's Pentium 75.  We'd come a long ways from Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer, and we've come a long ways since CK.  To the producers, Keep it coming!.

I got you all beat: I go all the way back to AW 1.0 on the Amiga for which I paid $12 per hour ($6 to AW-GEnie + $6 long distance to reach GEnie).  Then AW DOS, then CK, then WB, then AH.  Something like 13 yrs online Flight  simming (and I still stink at it).

715 (AW)
Mojave (WB)
715A (AH)

Yup, similar story here.

AW-Dos on the Ozhost server about 11 years ago, then a break of a couple of years when the OzHost server was hacked and we lost AW in Australia.

CK beta, then Warbirds until 29th September 1999.  AH ever since.

Now looking forward to a whole raft of excellent-looking sims in 2001  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

AW Dos on Genie...only trial versions of WB, never played ck.  After AW went flat rate I swore I'd never play anything that had an hourly cost associated with it.  It's amazing how far we've come (well, how far guys like ht have come  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif))....and how spoiled it's made us  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)  Now, when's that damn realalistic bob terrain comin...and the bridges and trains and weather and tougher damage model and mid war planes and fsp stuff and 3d with real depth perception and landing craft and submarines and modifiable plane skins and permanently running scenario arena and.....oops, perhaps I go too far afield...where was I? Yeah, spoiled  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I joined CK on version .87 or so.  Was instantly addicted, played like 6 hours a night and all day sat and sunday.  I still miss F15 almost 6 years later.

I was in the D'ohmark CK beta, until they sent me the CD and I saw what it was going to be  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
