So here it is, better a bit late than never.
This years gathering will be Saturday, June 22nd, 2013.
The location of the gathering is in limbo at the moment pending a head count. Anyone who is planning on camping, please post in this thread ASAP as well as your arrival date.
Anyone coming in just for Saturdays party or staying at a hotel, please note it.

Yes, 1st big one at my house was in '08 so this will be the 6th. If you want to be picky it's the 7th cause '07 was an impromptu gathering at my place after meeting up at the airshow.
Considering my house again this year if the head count isn't too large. Plenty of room out back to setup tents and such and only a few minutes from several hotel/motels. Also if weather
and such becomes an issue I've got nice Central Air/ Heat, Hi-speed internet and clean facilities to SSS (S***, Shower and Shave). I've got a 6 foot fire ring out back for campfires and
a propane grill for cooking. If anyone has a camper or whatever we can plug you into the house or the barn out back. Bring Chairs!! I've got 8 or 10 for the deck but will need more I'm sure.

For those of you who have never flown in a warbird, or done aerobatics! I am attempting to fill a minimum of 10 slots so we can get a group rate on PT-17 rental for 1/2 hour rides. I'm transitioning to taildraggers in this airplane here. A 1/2 hour flight is $95.00. I believe we have 5 slots booked already... provided wife-ak doesn't kill a couple of their hopes *cough* Jay *cough* a great experience for all you warbird fanatics! Plus an awesome chance for some great photos. We will put on our own airshow. The instructor I've requested is very experienced CFI, wit aerobatic credentials. Questions can be directed to me via BBS, pm, or phone call/text @ 937-503-2420.

PT-17 flights have been confirmed, and tentatively scheduled for 6/22/13 to begin at 0900 local at 4OI (Waynesville Airport). We will be attempting to raffle a 1/2 hour flight for free as well. Provided we can get 10 confirmations for rides the price will go down to $90.00 per 1/2 hour ride. Please express your intent to participate in this activity.

Awesome nef! The airfield we will be flying out of has a designated Rc area, so I'll be bringing a couple of Rc planes and remotes. We can dual up, and kill some time flying RC while we wait our turns for rides. Looking like I'll be bringing the big trainer, and an albatros DVa, might bring an ultra micro mosquito depending on the wind.

my Dad learned how to fly in one of those things on 1942 before he went to the Pacific.....all his life he never stopped talking about how much fun he had flying them :airplane:

This particular airplane we will be flying was built in '42, and was used at Patterson field to train pilots. It was then in the air force museums inventory, until traded for a Cessna L4 to red stewart. And yes... it is the most fun I've ever had in an airplane. Open cockpit with a radial choking smoke is the only way to fly!

Actually this is the 7th Offical Dayton Gathering, first one was in 07 that was the first one I set up a hotel block at the hotel and we all went to air show and museum. Then Shawk opened his backyard up for us all to have a gathering after the air show there. I still have the pic somewhere. 07 was NOT an impromptu gathering, it was all set up by me. So if you want to be technical, yes, this is the 7th gathering.

Sok, I was gonna poop in her pillow again :D. The Air force Museum may be willing to let us take some group photos with some of the inventory in the WW2 hangar, and I just picked up a 1/72 P-51D to be given on sat the 22nd during the party. Will keep you all posted on news from the General's office as I get it.

So it has been decided that we will NOT be going to the camp ground again this year. SHawk has again graciously offered his pristine property.............. oh puke, dudes............we are gonna party and crash at Scott's house.
Since we are looking at a very small confirmed crowd we can pitch tents in the lot of the mullet man. Saturday is still a go for flights and Sunday I know for sure we are going to the museum.
Menu is currently being worked on but is looking better than oatmeal and Spam. Please PM SHawk or I for address and contact info.

Well, the museum has declined our request, due to the fact its airshow wknd and they are short handed because of the impending furloughs. I'll start pestering the general for next years availability in the first week of July. Can't wait to see everyone.

Do we get goggles or any eyewear? I really want to be able to see, so I was considering wearing my contacts. I am notorious for losing my glasses when fun levels reach a certain point.

headgear will be provided for the flight with coms. Bring sunglasses for your ride, dollar general 2 miles from the field. Don't forget your camera

Yesterday I smoked a pork butt over mesquite. It is now in the freezer. We will be having pulled pork on the menu Saturday. 1 pan with Sweet Baby Ray's and the other with Cattlemans Carolina Tangy Gold (mustard based). I also cut up cabbage, carrots, etc for a homemade vinegar based slaw.

I won't be coming, like Chef said, I am getting married. August 24th, so I have a ton of things going on with planning that and preparing for it. My animal rescue is also getting ready to take over a shelter in Wexford County Michigan, we are turning it into a no kill shelter :) so all the Board of Commissioner meetings and City Council Meetings along with planning my wedding and running my rescue keep me too busy for anything. I do miss the game though and my friends. Who knows, u may see me again lurking in the shadows in my tiffy o doom!! muahahahahahaaa!! :)

Should be no problem. If you want to sleep in the truck, the trailer can be dropped at SHawks shop, then drive over. Or, drop the whole thing at the shop and bunk in an open tent. We will be bringing a small extra one.

I got a great idea, since we are going to have multiple setups then we need to have a dueling tree for the 2nd ride. Whaddya say old chaps? A little friendly competition for the order of stearman flights?

Damn, I think this just may be the best gathering yet! Small group of peeps, but the shizz we are going to be doing is gonna rock! We are reserved for 5-7 hours on the Stearman, so we have a little wiggle room for last minute riders that want to get in on it. It's supposed to be a beautiful day Saturday. I will be leaving Scott's around 7:50 am to go to Red Stewart Airfield to help Mike roll the airplane out, and finalize things with the airfield manager. Going to see if they can email all the nessicary paperwork so we can get it filled out the night before.

Well as you all know boxgirl and my self wont be making it again this year! Funds are tight and she cant afford to miss the whole weekend from work! Ild love to be there for the shooting, fussing, cussing, and guzzling! but I cant so please take lotsa pix and post them often! what a kick in the dink to not be able to go for a strearman ride!

Also I'd like to thank Shawk for opening his home to us, Fonzy (Aaaaah) for setting up the Steerman rides, Chef for making some awesome food, and Neff for the T-Shirts (even though I forgot mine at Shawks house). Excellent time!!

Ahhh.... home and unpacked. Warming up some 1Maddog1 stew for dinner. Thanks SHawk for allowing us to hang at your place and Robin for all you did(too long of a list) to help us out, without you we would all have had worse tent conditions from the storm.. PS, the burgers today were delicious!

Finally settled. Had a flat tire about 20 miles West of Columbus. Just glad to be home safe after an awesome weekend!

What a weekend to remember.
First off. Again many thanks to Scott and Robin for opening their home to us.
Tim, thank you for organizing the Stearman rides at Red Stewart Field. I will never forget the 30 minutes of greatness, in my first small plane ride. It was worth it and Mike was a phenomenal pilot. it was great to spend some time with a former squaddie/friend.
Nate, it was awesome finally meeting you after at least 7 years of jokes online.
Brian, it always a fun time with you around, as well as your family. Your food preparation is second to none and those brats....................lol, tip top!
Will and Rosie. LOL, oh the fun that was had and the one liners going back and forth were priceless. It was most excellent seeing you two again! Will, I am glad you went for the Stearman ride and Rosie getting to go up as well, that was truly magnificent to be a part of.
OGIE. It is always fun to chat with you and reflect other things than AH.
Mike, it was excellent to see you again and an absolute priviledge to use Nef's and Bj's accounts to rattle peoples cages a bit. it was most gracious to provide the use of four rigs to play on.
Lyric, my Australian friend. It is always a pleasure chatting with you and the bait you were using Saturday night was top notch! You exceeded the catch limit.
