My all time favourite was/is Raphael.
Going around the LW in EW aircraft, giggling and laughing like school kids.

Every wingman deserves your appreciation...
I appreciate all people that want to put in time with me.
Of course you "like" the people more that you fly with you regularly because you get used too the fact having them around you.
Never underestimate the power off a pair... especially when you are trying to break it up.

Bruv, Grizz, Pervert, Kappa, Levithan, BatfinkV, Krupnski, Kazaa, & Yenny are my wingmen. Their spirit of awesome is next to me each time I up and, on occasion, even when I'm on the ground. :rock
One could ask for no better wingmen to guide you, help you, and save you :old:
Choose careully... choose carefully indeed. :old:
-
His ingame name is catfish. No matter what I did he was always on my side keeping me clear. We were an awesome team in FSO's back in the day
no matter I flew, he'd fly the same thing.
Other good wingman are 1sum41(one of the few guys who will fly SBD's, and TBM's into a furball), waxx, Triton1(awesome gv wingman as well), doc72ch, google, and anyone in JG5.
-
The ones it was the most fun to wing with:
IrishOne, Krupinski, RedBull, Sukov, Kazan.
-
One of the best times I had winging was with TwoDogs5 (RIP). We took on 5-6 cons barley ever talking and took them all out.
-
The Few
The most efficient sorties were with bruv, theres nothing like cleaning a base from its defenders, from 15K to the deck and land them...
-
Badger, Angel and Pipz. I enjoy winging with many others as well but these guys are always a blast. :rock

There were many great guys I loved winging with including Debrody, JOACH1M, Google, 1sum41, titanic6, wil3ur and more... but one that stands out as probably my best wingman was DrBone. So many K4 and 262 sorties I remember going through and completely/totally cleaning out a massive furball and both returning home landing 15, 20, 25+ kills :rofl
-
DrSpek and Krupnski , two great friends I met through Aces High
-
I've winged with lots of great guys. The ones that standout.
VF-17 Branch Bonesaw BC
JG-11 TheBug Frodo Hopper Canukk
1841 Sqn Warloc
SAPP any of them.
94th Blazer Bludy
Tainan Kokutai Hightone Txcoyote Recon8 and Navy.
-
I would have to say anyone from the 80th Headhunters as I've known some of them for more than 20 years. That kind of familiarity makes for the best wingmen and the best fights against them too I might add.
-
I love winging with squaddies, but I have most always been a 1 vs type of player... but when I do have really great winging runs I find myself with Kappa, who is one of the best wingys around, Fester is great also, KOOL was always a great wingy.... Moot was great to wing with... Wax was a good one... Grizz, the one tater wonder was always solid... hell, like I said most of my squaddies are great wingy's! Blukitty always awesome.... I winged some with Dolby and his squad a few months back, great bunch of guys... too many to name really... My best winging was done with Kappa about 5 months ago, we flew a couple of 152's to this base and capped while they slowly grew in numbers and tried climbing up to get us, I got PW'd on digressing and both on fumes, I had 8 kills he had like 10+, I died crashlanding in a blackout but Kappa landed his... :rock

Rud3boi by far! Runnerup would be Bamboo who was Rp626 or something like that in AW. He was fun to fly with and never ever left your side.
However, Rud3boi just flat knows how to fly and has taught me many things. Perhaps the best thing he ever taught me was how to have more fun in the game.

I haven't done a whole lot of planned winging, mainly because there's no one insane enough to follow me into a sea of red :( . But, Krup and RedBull have been two fun guys to rope kills for. :devil

Krup was an alright wingman.....stole all the kills though
-
I could be nominated as WORST wimgman by my squad-baits...er squad-mates!

WMLute, Wrag, TomG, Skyhawk, karaya, Shawk, abdc, trollin, Forker, sky rock, stang, and mtnman are/were all outstanding wingmen. That changeup guy isn't bad bait either :salute:

one day I hope to learn how to wing...and there are many I would wing with..unfortunately I am to self involved to worry about others....well not really...just when it counts I suck so to save the grief I just try to keep to myself... and there are others who know this and still fly in my vicinity hahaaha... good ole squaddies .... half the time though they are just there to laugh at me...hahaha

I'm like the worst wingman ever. I always end up drifting off and getting myself into trouble with too many bad guys.
Before taking a couple of years off, I used to have a great time loosely winging with BnZs. Haven't seen him since I've been back though.
-
i like winging with anyone in G3-MF but Alpha81 and i have flown wingman for a long time
-
Del has flown my wing the most going back to the Airwarrior days. Since my SA is so bad, having his SA kept me alive a lot longer. Soulyss is much the same. Both those guys know when I've crossed the line of no return and somehow still survive.
In scenarios I've come across some good ones too. SIK1 suffered as my wing a few times. I fly like a spastic drunken duck in a crosswind and tend to shoot first, assess the situation later so it takes a lot of patience.
Batfink and Redbull both stand out too as I'd go into a fight and come out the other side, look back and they'd be where they were when we went into the fight. Again, with my 'flying' that's really hard to do.
Generally I've reached the point where I don't ask for a wingman as I want them to have a good time and not die as fast as I do :)
-
I am the worst wingman there is..... :aok
-
I am the worst wingman there is..... :aok
That's true....but not because you're a bad wing pr pilot....it's because keeping up with, or, having someone keep up with you screws up your rhythm and timing. I know, because ice accidentally caused your death a few times with my screams for help

No one likes me so I fly alone :cry
Seriously though, I always enjoy winging with the 80th. And I've always enjoyed winging with Karaya. We may up Hurri 1s or run a Candy Mtn. Mission, either way there are going to be several laughs and a good time. I'm not very good at wingman tactics, mainly because I fly alone. But at least I'll fly in formation into the battle :)

Badcore and Cobra89 are my usual wings. They do a mighty fine job of either keeping me clear or using me as bait. :) Combination of familiarity and similar flying styles means we usually do more killing than dying and have fun doing it.
Only had the privilege once or twice to date, but I'd take cactus on my wing any day. The dude sees everything and is usually in a good spot to kill it. Add to that he's a tough out. In a nuclear apocalypse cockroaches would likely ask cactus for survival tips. :D

My favorites in Chronological order of which I was winging with:

This is no offence to the mentioned people above but a good wingman isn't some hotshot stick that gets in all manner of trouble then requires you to bail them out. (mentions no names)
A good wingman has to be on the same page as the flight lead and be 100% understanding of what he is doing at all times and to be fluid enough to switch roles at a moments notice. Some of the best fun this game can produce is a nice 2 vs 10 sortie and killing every last one of them.
With the aid of good Vox you can pretend to be good wingmen but the best combinations are so good you don't even have to talk to each other to know where they will be.

Bozon, Kovel, Ntrudr, and Klingan !

Bozon, Kovel, Ntrudr, and Klingan !
Wingman?
We loose deuces fly in the same sector and try to steal each other's kills, or dangle our "190A8" and "moss" red neon signs as bait for the reds . I guess you can call that wingmen ;)

In Aces High you practice two types of wing pairs.
1. - Offensive Mutual Tactical Support - 99% AH used, most common because we are all shooters and ACM stars. How the "Thatch Weave" was created by life and death necessity to defeat the superior performing A6m. It allows each of us the freedom and latitude of our individual ACM aerobatics while working loosely with a friend.
2. - Leader and Wingman - 1% AH used, Historically the most used in ww2 and the simplest way for new pilots to observe and learn on the job ww2 air combat. The wingman has a defined task of staying on the leader's tail running interference to attackers and being the eyes while the Leader is the shooter. Aces High is not ww2 air combat. We are all the Leader and want to land kills, so #1 is the normative tactic in the game.
I turn Waystin into an unstoppable killer by flying #2 with him and making sure his only job is aiming and shooting. Historic, yes. Game wise, boring for the wingman because you only focus on screening your shooter. Often deadly as it is your job to take it in the kester for your shooter while keeping him appraised of threats. You very rarely get to shoot at any target your shooter misses because that will pull you out of sync and position to your shooter's six. This is the key point where most AH players trying to adhere to #2, let their tactic fall apart, and become individual targets and easily killable to the red guys. Waystin calls it "Piggy ADHD" or for dogs: "SQUIRREL!!".
For the most part POTW mass utilizes #1. While #2 takes too much patience, discipline, and willingness to work very closely together on VOX. The wingman lands very few kills or not at all. I learned #2 from Nomde and Frenchy when I flew Jugs with the old 56th. YUCCA was simply a Juggy Jedi. The "Jug" was strong with that one.

Two different guys. Both were squaddies in the old 475th. Souless is from Canada, Soulyss from California and in the 80th with me.

anyone willing to stick with me and work together is my favorite wingman. I got some instruction from Stingy last night on formation fllying with buffs then a bit later on how to tag-team dirty red guys....
my favorite wingman? The one that's there! :bolt: :devil

I love winging with anyone but these stand out all of G3MF, Retail7, RedBull, Corky, Jayro, Pipz, and many more! But the stand out for me is Ta57x. Ta took me under his wing years ago and taught me everything about Aces.High. :joystick:

my favorite squaddie wingman was Plater in Air Warrior FR. We used the Thach weave with great success and fought until we were down or emerged the victors. We also would team up in a B17 with one of us in the nose gun to dogfight anything that came near. And the spinfighter A26...well we liked the helicopter like spin with spray and pray. I've been in AH for a few months and this game is awesome. No wingies yet here tho. :salute

I'd have to say my fav is Vilkas, just because of who he is!
But if I roll back a few years it would have to be wormzila, him and I have flown together for years and I miss those days.
:salute
-
Vilkas is awesome! I got to fly in the same squad as him when I first started playing AHII. One of my favorite guys on the game. He even taught me a little lithuanian, though I've forgotten it all by now. :o
-
I've had a few I've regularly winged with since I started this madness in 2005, but I think my favorites are:
Stimpy from the (now-disbanded) Rogue Griffons - a co-worker and friend who shared a love for all things warbird related. He pulled me into AH from IL2 and Falcon 4 multi-player land to the Griffons where I few for several years as Hoplite. Not only a decent stick and good teacher, but maybe the most hilarious person I've ever known. I wish I could get him to come back to the game but he's too busy now working for Lockheed-Martin.
AKPepprr of the Arabian Knights - As Changeup said in a previous post..... "No Fear". She dives headfirst into some of the craziest fights I've ever seen and she laughs with glee pretty much the whole time. She's a blast to fly with and has good SA...much better than mine (tho' truth be told that's no great feat). Most of the fights don't end well...but they are always guaranteed to be interesting!
That reminds me....I would like to set the record straight: Despite claims by Pep....I do not use her as "bait".
...
Well....maybe sometimes. ;) :D
-
Aww...thanks guys, love flying with ya.. :)
No fear? It's a game and I get a brand new plane when I f that one up.. :D
(just don't ever look at my number of deaths for sorties...oooops)
Heh..."laughs with glee"...more like swears with glee, but whatever..

Well...I could have said "Dives right in and quickly ends her virtual life in a cloud of simulated enemies."....but that sounds far less complimentary. :D
-
Never flown with a wingman , nor wanted to. There are enough friendlies trying to clear my 12 (and use me for bait) as it is. :neener:
