Title: Thanks
Post by: earl1937 on June 03, 2013, 10:46:52 PM
:airplane: Guys, getting older by the day and don't know how much longer this old body will last! I just wanted to take this chance to say thanks to all you guys who have made this old mans life a little more enjoyable the past 3 years. The wife has altizmers and don't know how long she is going to be with me and don't know what I will do when she is gone. One thing that I have looked forward to each day is logging into the AH forum and reading comments and suggestions and reading the replies.
I enjoy posting in here, sharing some of my real life experiences in the hopes that it will help someone over the hurdles that we all run into. If I have done that, then I will feel good about my efforts in my posts.
Don't get me wrong, "I am not going out without a fight", if given the opportunity by the good lord! Just had bladder cancer removed 6 weeks ago and they say they have it all out, but my question is, with only 1 kidney left, what are the chances of it coming back?
Anyway, didn't mean to cry on everybodies shoulder, just got down tonight and had to talk to someone and you guys are my outlet, so please forgive me if I have bored you with this!!

Earl just keep the faith brother, when times get tough and hard you can always come here to vent or get answers to lifes questions or problems, there is a lot of great people here with hearts of gold that would be more than willing to listen to you and to lend advice, many players think of this as their extended family. Just hang in there man.

You are definitely not a bore. My Dad is also suffering from Alzheimer's. Docs are following a script.
We're looking at every potential alternative. Even things like coconut oil, which seems to have made
a dramatic positive impact for some. Our prayers and thoughts to you and her.

Earl, you sound like a stand up guy, and although I have never met you in game (I don't think), you have my deepest thoughts and prayers!  Glad we, as a community, can bring some joy into your life!

#S# and best wishes

Earl, I'm very glad that you are around here.

I'm sorry about your wife and your recent health issues.  For bladder cancer, if the docs think that they got it all, that is very good.  I wouldn't think it would matter at all whether you have 1 or 2 kidneys with regard to chances of recurrence.  Have they put you on chemotherapy after surgery?

Earl, all the best to you and your wife.  I will keep you in my prayers.

Some members know this, but others may not:  Earl (ET37 in game) flew P-51's and B-29's just after the Korean war.  He is a hugely interesting guy to play with (Rooks Squad - Devil Dogs) and a first class gentleman.  His Saturday night pick-up missions in the LWMA are often historically based and he sometimes has scripts that several of the Devil Dogs read during climb out that add a sense of realism that is simply wonderful and create a sense of historical immersion I have not seen elsewhere in the game.

From the little I know you, Earl, you have had a rich and interesting life and you embellish this game more than you could imagine.

Good luck to you and I hope you continue to entertain your squad with period specific "climb out music" for years to come  :aok

:airplane: They don't think it will be neccessary, but if it comes back, prostat and bladder will have to be removed.
