http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuI0gFUq3HY Can you imagine getting all these HE 111s and Spitfires air worthy and actually flying in a movie scene? I can watch this scene over and over again and get goose bumps every time. Thank you Spanish Air Force. They used 32 Heinkels for the movie scenes, 12 flyable Spits, 3 flyable Hurris, and 17 flyable 109s.
The shot at the end of the smoking 111 going for the deck shows you, not only good flying, but how maneuverable the big plane was. I never get tired of watching this scene.

Could be.

Well nothing beats original footage. And yes "Fly boys" was a great flight movie. I wish there were more foreign films made from the perspective of the Axis air forces. Nice Browning A-5 on the skeet range.

In my opinion the greatest scene in all flight movies wasn't actually filmed in the "air" but on the ground. From Battle of Britain - The "We're not easily frightened scene".

Ya, great scene. As is any scene with Susannah York in it. What a stunner she was.

The greatest scene?

spielberg needs to explain how a kid in a foreign country who has never seen a p51...just knows what one looks like.

That Battle of Britain had some of the finest CGI I've ever seen. It looked so real... :bolt:
One thing that's always driven me nuts in movies, best example here was the fight at the end of Flyboys. Would it kill them to actually show some ACM in the fights? Rolling scissors could be exciting if filmed well. Instead, we get small turn left, get shot. Small turn right, get shot again. 'Pull up and he'll fly right by us...'

i know what you mean Wiley...anyone remember some of the combat scenes they used in baa baa blacksheep?
the funny stuff were during the intros when they did closeups of the cast supposedly in the cockpits...you could tell they were sitting in poorly made stage props. :lol

You haven't seen the film have you? If I remember correctly he saw an ad for North American in a newspaper or magazine titled "Cadillac of the Skies".

He saw an ad in a magazine from a red cross package describing the P-51 as the 'Cadillac of the skies.'

Yeah the Stukas looked pretty cheesy. But you can live with it for the rest of the flight scenes.

so youre saying a 5 spitfires shot down over 8 He111s in under 5 mins that had no fighter escort? FFS they will still over the channel

I am wondering something. During the BOB was hero music always playing on the radio so the pilots and ground crews could listen to, especially when German aircraft were being downed?

Correct!
I agree with you that this was one of the top avaiation moments in movie history. :aok

Wiley.
What CGI? That movie was made in 1969 and the He-111's and ME-109's were equipped with Merlin engines. They were Spanish AF aircraft. The stukas were remote controlled models. It's one of my favorites and It has been released in DVD format.
All the Best...

Okay, maybe not a flight movie but still......

Just about any scene from Wings (1927) or Hell's Angels (1930). No CGI in either of them. :airplane:

Man I thought that flick was depressing.

Any flight scene from Top Gun (especially the final dogfight). Took aerial film making/photography to a whole new level and before CIG ruined everything.

I was just going to post "your all wrong. the best scenes of all flight movies had to be from the First winner of the first acadamy awards and only silent movie to win. 1927 Wings"
real planes. real bombs, real bullets.
and their idea of simulating a plane smashing into the ground...was to smash an airplane into the ground.

Thats why I wore out about 5 VHS's and DVD's of BOB.
