Title: SdKfz251-22 (7.5 cm Pak 40) variant option for our Sdk
Post by: Citabria on June 10, 2013, 01:24:13 AM
(http://combat1.sakura.ne.jp/SdKfz251-22.jpg)

seems to have good ability to go hull down with the amount the muzzle can be depressed which would make it a viable offensive vehicle. not to mention it can probably carry a lot of rounds.

the sdk needs something that it can do better than the m3 and this is probably it. the gun is very good if its the same used on the panzer which would make it a very viable ground vehicle choice and not just a very pretty hangar queen.

it should have more options than it currently has for sure...but there is conflicting information on production numbers. some suggest less than 100 and others nearly 300 by the end of the war.

trying to find a free copy of this publication... mittlere Schuetzenpanzerwagen (Sd.Kfz.251) Ausf.C & D (Panzer Tracts, Volume 15-3) - it's supposed to have specifications and production numbers.

don't know how accurate this information is... http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Waffen/sonderkraftfahrzeuge.htm (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Waffen/sonderkraftfahrzeuge.htm)

This would be a nice addition.

This would be easier for HTC to add than many think, the chassis is already in game as is the gun (SdKfz 251 and Panzer IV H).

Ammo count is not its strong point, there is not a lot of room in the SdKfz 251/22 once the gun is mounted.  One printed source of mine show 38 rounds were carried, the rest were carried in support vehicles.

I'd be willing to bet that the rate of fire was fire was a wee bit higher than the Panzers.

This would be a great addition to AH, a non-perked fast moving and effective AT gun that is highly vulnerable from *any* incoming fire.  Oh, and don't forget about the limited traverse.  The M3/75mm would still be a superior town buster thanks to a superior HE shell and faster reload rate, but the -251/22 would be far more desirable for AT purposes with the superior AP round and FAR superior optics.  :aok
