My friends :salute
For the past 20 years, through 3 different games, I have flown with the name of "Zoney".
As you may imagine, after this long, I have made changes to keep the game fresh.
Now for the first time, I have changed my name, to "Hartmann".
I am now a proud member of Stampf's JG11. I chose them because they only fly German aircraft, also a big change for me.
I've put my P47N in the hanger and covered it up with a tarp.
Look for me now in a 190D on your high 6 oclock....................... ...no........................ .higher :devil
<<<S>>> all my friends.
I love this game.
-
you aint gonna fly like him are you?
:neener:
and he mostly flew the G6 :aok
-
Hey, don't park that fat-boy under a tarp. Instead, let's make a fundraiser out of it. Charge people $0.50 to whack it with a baseball bat. Jugs are good for that kind of crap you know.
Welcome to the dark side of the moon, aka German Iron!!

Congrats on become a JG11 member! Suggest you don't put that jug away yet....109/190/110 even a good ole stukka raid are fun to fly but after awhile...I bet you'll miss flying the other a/c available!!
My $.02

I am interested in immersion. Joining a Luftwaffe only squad helps me with that. German fighter pilots did not have the choice of flying a P47 on occasion. They had to take the plane they were given and go out and fight in it. Here we can at least choose any Luftwaffe aircraft to suit our mission purposes.
-
I respect JG11 and early variant 109 flyers, but fulltime P47 sticks are much more rare and they took a loss (that is far more difficult to replace) in their ranks today.
Don't misunderstand my above comment and think I'm criticizing as you (Zoney/Hartman) need to have fun with the game to stay interested. :salute
-
Stampf and crew are good peeps. You found a good home Sir. :aok
-
<smacks zoney>. Pick the ID Hartmann and the put yourself in a 190?
We need to work on that immersion stuff :)
Have fun with the JG11 crew :aok
-
Kittel wouldve been better….in an A8….
Just sayin'
-
weird, I thought there was already a Hartmann in game, in KN perhaps? I have a bad memory
regardless, :salute Zoney
-
Conratulations Zoney!! :aok I can assure you you could not find a finer more dedicated group of guys to fly with.
Wait till Vilkas gets singing German Marching songs on a climbout!!
:salute Friend
-
Anyone who has not had the pleasure of flying wih Vilkas has possibly missed one of the very best parts of this game.
The "Greatest Generation" has that moniker because of what they did, on either side of WW2.
-
I already sold Hartmans P47 for parts and the remainder of the plane we smashed them in the hanger over the weekend.
Welcome to the dark side Hartman.
Molsman
-
I am thankful JG11 sold me Zoney's P47, I needed the extra metal to patch up all the holes in Latrobe's 109s.
-
Yes we had a hartmann in our squad for a time.
-
Put a tarp on it?
Stampf, make him do a ceremonial 'vulch' of 'his' p47 with a 190! :D
-
Yes we had a hartmann in our squad for a time.
I that case I revise my previous remark, I actually have an awesome memory
-
Yes we had a hartmann in our squad for a time.
One of the finest 109 sticks who played, too.
Some interesting replies...
This 'Hartmann' isn't too shabby either. 124 kills/1 death last month. Ja...We'll take him along as ballast.
Other than running into him a few times in Scenarios and the odd FSO frame,...really didn't know 'Zoney' that well...other than here on the bbs,...where he always struck me as a level headed, mature, with a bit of sarcastic wit kind of guy...so when he asked me for a shot in the 11th...I did not hesitate...as has been my practice all these years...giving most a chance who want to make the commitment to the JG11 Experience.
Now I have been wrong before,...but I'm pretty sure after almost a month or so now...'Zoney' is an ace of the past...'Hartmann' has found his place here, in the 11th Jagdgeschwader. It's not for everyone.

Zoney "New Hartmann" had a short stint with us in KN for FSO a couple years ago. Hell of a guy in the fight, and the O-club after the fight. We tried like hell to get him to stick around, but he was touring all the squads back then. Glad he found a good home with Jg 11.
<S> Hartmann

Congrats zoney.....I mean hartmann.
It is honorable to announce your new handle.
-
With respect zoney do as you please with change in game ID and best of luck.
Personally though I've always thought it goes against the grain a little bit to name yourself in a game after real people in history for one reason or another.
imho more respectful to let their time in history and their name rest in peace.
Just my 2c

The KN Hartmann was previously Barkhorn, leader of JG53 Pic As squad. Barkhorn had to leave, so squad came apart. When he came back, he joined KN. And now gone again.
:salute Barkhorn, where ever you are.

'And that is how it came to be that German aces populated the arena.'
Sung to the tune of 'Favorite Things'
Bartels and Becker and Becker and Becker
Dahl, Dickfeld, Dinger and Josef "Pips" Priller
Friedrich Obleser and of course there's Heinz Lange
These are a few of my favorite names.
;) (J/K - I'm all about immersion. I just like
the good guys) ;)

Hey Zoney:
I didn't know who Hartmann was the other night when you left me one cripple bomber to try and land...a wwi era gesture for sure and much appreciated.
I am thinking we met somewhere in cyber skies prior to AH...where Zoney was an excellent DR pilot, also a German plane :).
That was as nice a gesture the other night as I've seen in AH, reminded of wwi fights long ago. Thank you!
Take care,
One

He did that for me as well one time, and we struck up a nice PM conversation. Found out he is related to an author of books about space, of which I have a keen interest. A nice guy in-game - nicer than me.
-
I though you flew 190's? Oh well, have fun mate!
-
Howdy Onerka :salute
I really hoped you could make it home too. I saw the guy going to you as you were landing without fuel and engines out but got no response when I asked him to let you land.
And Deke, <S> but at ya buddy.

Hartmann previously known as zoney :salute
Although me and stampf have had our arguments (sucked because I was wrong most of the time) you have joined a great squad. They are very well organized, they fly like pitbulls and fight harder.
Jg11 is a great group of guys to fly with and will benefit from your experience and flying skills. :salute See ya at 25k :t

See ya at 25k :t
You're gonna get bounced from on high. ;)

<----- Screams hello and good luck to the "new" Hartmann who, because he is now flying at 20+K in a 109 instead of a P47, flies on into the night without noticing. :D
