In some planes, I find that I cannot move my head in some directions.
For example, in the Il-2, when looking left and up, pressing the right arrow key to move my head to the right doesn't work.
This is not a recent bug, so I have looked around a bit to see if anyone else has mentioned it, but I didn't see anything.
It happens only on some planes, not most of them, and only on views in particular directions, not all view directions.

Brooke,
I've come across this problem a lot lately, it's not really a game issue but more an issue with windows and the KB.
I went as far as to connect a second keyboard to my comp to see if there was a problem with my KB or controllers and found that I could move the head position if I used 2 keyboards! It seems that too many key presses at the same time and windows doesn't like it!
If you can use the hatswitch and KB then you're ok but I don't have 3 hands so it's rather difficult, however if you use the 2 keyboard trick you can map the view and forget about it until you need to map another...... :devil
Funny thing is I don't recall it being like that before, seems like when Vista came out it started then continued with Win7.

I'll give it a try. Thanks for suggestion.

Yep, that works. Thanks!
Now the only problem I have is that when setting keys for views, the program won't let me use the shift, ctrl, or alt keys as part of the key sequence.

It is not a game bug. It is a keyboard limitation, specifically with the keyboard. Most keyboards cannot transmit a scan code for 3 keys. It is a simple limitation of the keyboard design.
The proper way to work around this is to use a hat switch, button, or key mapped to "Look Up Left", then use the arrow key to move the view left or right. No need to use two keyboards.

Roy,if you have your JS mounted it becomes impossible to do with only 2 hands!
I certainly cant reach the F10 key when holding a numpad key and hatswitch and or the arrow keys/pageup/down. While I agree you don't "need" 2 keyboards,it's a lot easier to do the adjustments with them. I guess if you don't have your JS mounted it isn't that big a deal.

I just mapped a spare key to up-left view so that I could set the view I want and don't care about using that key thereafter.

Brilliant,it never occurred to me to map the view to 1 key!... :rofl :rofl :rofl
See you do learn something everyday! :x It will be much easier to help others with this little tidbit.
I always tell fellow players I know just enough about computers to really mess them up.

That is what I was saying. You do not need two keys to look up and left. There is one command that does it. Just map it to a key, button, hat and then use the arrow keys to make the final adjustments.
