Title: Your choice?
Post by: wiskyfog on June 17, 2013, 02:41:59 PM
Let's talk headsets w/mic. At risk of starting a huge debate among y'all about 5.1 headsets, I want to buy a 5.1 surround headset, any recommendations? I HAD a pair of Turtle beach Z6A which within the first 2 weeks of use turned my ears blue and the left side just snapped off when i removed them and the last straw was when the "amp box" stopped working on one side or the other, upon opening the amp, there were wires which had no heat shrink and were touching each other. they are really a P.O.S headset.

I've been using a pair of SpeedLink Medusa's (plug version, not the USB) for almost a decade now, actually my second pair because the first one broke. Something snapped and after some twiggling with tape I gave them to a friend who fixed them for himself with a toothstick and some epoxy. Comfortable on the ears, no colour markings - my family would tell me, or at last a mirror image, if I had rings on my clean shaved skull.

Funny how even the 5.1 headset has triple the price immediately when it's labeled for console use  :devil

Oh, my bad. Didn't notice the OP is a Martian. Guess the prices from USA to Mars would be as high as from Europe, though.
