Title: Older heavies
Post by: Zacherof on June 23, 2013, 02:05:36 AM
Would like the B17E and B24D and a decreased EnY and obj value...

After we get the 1st gen fighters upgraded, and we get the beaufighter, ki45, ki100, J2M, Italian bombers, Yak3/7, 109E7, 109 a/s models, gloster meteor, ju188, Do17/217, and 190A3/G3(basically a modified A5),D11, Sb2C, il4, Tu2, and Pe-2 ofcourse :D

Not very useful.  The RAF determined it was not ready for combat operations and they were used as maritime patrol aircraft.

The B-17E and/or B-17F as well as the B-24D would be very nice.

The Lancaster Mk III with the quad .303 tail turret does fine as a stand in for the Lancaster Mk I.

A Mosquito B.Mk IV would be another nice earlier version of an existing bomber to have.  Active from 1942 through the end of the war in Europe whereas the Mk XVI we have entered service in January of 1944.

B24D for sure.  The Wellington would be nice.  And an EW Ju88 (including a remodel of the current version).   :aok

The Wellington always reminds me of a whale for some reason but I think it would be a good early war medium bomber to have.

Back on topic, what other early bombers were there?

Early war Brit bombers besides the Wellington (11,461 built):

Handley Page Hampden (1,430 built)

Armstrong Whitworth Whitley (1,814 built)

The three of them were the mainstay of RAF bomber command until the four engine heavies (Avro Lancaster, Handley Page Halifax and Short Stirling) became available in large numbers.

Back on topic, what other early bombers were there?

G3M (1k built), Ki-21 (2k built) for Japanese.  TB-3 (800 built, used quite a bit in both daylight and night time role, mostly night though) and Tupolev SB (6,800 built) for Russia.  Do-17 (2k built) for Germany (though we are fairly set with the 111 at the moment).  You've named the American birds.  Blenheim (4k built), Beaufort (2k built), Hampden (1,400 built), Whitley (1,800 built) for Britain (Wellington already mentioned).  SM.79 (1,300 built) for Italy.

because it's not...check back in a few years after all the crap that was put in there is taken out. there is still a massive number of things that have bad notations and erroneous references.

But of course. Here's an artist's rendering of it dog-fighting a UFO in 1932:

Wow that must've been a special plane! It went into action against a UFO a year before it even took its first flight!

Nobody knows when it took its first flight. Also, the battle opened at least three
time rifts (again, nobody can be certain if there were more of if they are still
opening).

I wonder, are those possible residual time rifts what cause the Bermuda triangles? Space and time are interrelated, and so you would also change location.... Without leaving a trace  :noid.

Do they work both ways!? Flight 19 might still be in Russia!

:airplane: I understand the wish, but, when you compare the E model to the G, big, big difference! Example, max allowable takeoff of the E= 51,000 lbs, the G=65,500 lbs. But, then the E was a lot faster, 224MPH IAS cruise speed as opposed to the G which was 184. According to USAF museum only 512 true E's were built as the whole  aircraft was under going many mods to make it better and more safe for the crew.
