July 9 at two times in Special Events II arena:
-- 3 pm Eastern US time
-- 8:30 pm Eastern US time
Join us to commemorate Operation Husky, the allied invasion of Sicily, which started on July 9, 1943.
It was the largest amphibious invasion to date and, following the battles in North Africa, the first step to invasion of continental Europe.
Fierce air battles between the allied air forces on the one side and the Luftwaffe and Regia Aeronautica on the other, tactical bombing, anti-shipping, shore bombardment, airborne landings, amphibious assaults, Patton vs. Montgomery in the race to Mesina -- all were part of Operation Husky.

Do I need to sign up or can we just how up on the big day?
-
For this series of events (the "This Day in WWII" series), you just need to show up and have fun.
They are less involved than scenarios. Every month, we have a battle on the day of a historical battle, themed on the historical battle, but with a design that allows players just to jump in and have fun without needing any preparation.
The full list is:
•January 25, 1945: Battle of the Bulge
•February 2, 1943: Battle of Stalingrad
•March 7, 1942: Siege of Malta
•April 18, 1942: Doolittle Raid
•May 8, 1942: Battle of the Coral Sea
•June 6, 1944: D-Day
•July 9, 1943: Operation Husky
•August 13, 1940: Battle of Britain (Adlertag)
•September 7, 1942: Battle of Milne Bay
•October 14, 1943: Black Thursday
•November 8, 1942: Operation Torch
•December 7, 1941: Pearl Harbor
I hope that you can make it! <S>
