Does anyone have a picture of this conversion kit installed? And does anyone know if the 603A or the AA is what AH uses in its 410?
Thanks.

if it's the a1 model, it should be a db603a, although the plane was designed to take several different motors.

i think i found pics of the 30mm gun options...although i'm not sure if it's an a1 or a2.

110 is better :neener:

Thanks for the photos.
There was a 603AA upgrade kit that was dispersed in June/July 44' that was supposed to supplement the current 603A's with the G supercharger until other engines could be used. Apparently hundreds of these sets were made but I can't find anywhere that talks about their implementation at all. Were they shipped off to use on other planes instead?

I know the 109's got engines asap.

As a dogfighter; totally.
I used to fly it back in the day but always wanted something more modern and with better defense.
The dive brakes alone make it well worth the change over even if you don't count the extra 13mm barbette protection (which still needs to be fixed to shoot straight).

These were just superchargers for engines, not the engines themselves.
The G superchargers would supplement the 603A engine and convert it to a 603AA, apparently (which came with them ofc) and rate the engine for a much higher altitude.

look up the u and r field mod packages Myg. if the aa engine package was superchargers it's possible they would have been selected field package mods with limited distributions.

These were not selectable field conversions from what I can tell, they were a mandated stopgap between developmental stages.

AFAIK, the 410 never got the 603G series engines!
The only real difference between the A model and the B model was the upgrade to Mk131 13mm mg's verses the A models MG17 7.7mgs.
IIRC,in the books I've read that the RLM put in emergency measures and all aero engines went to single engine fighters first! This left the 410 to continue on with the 603A. They built close to 50 single seat 410 and some of these received Gm1 kits for high alt work, however by the end of 44 they were being withdrawn from service.
:salute
PS: AH models the 603 A in both 410,only the weight changes and if you want to save alittle weight opt for the mg17's instead of the Mk131's,I think it's slightly over 200 lbs difference! Fuel loads make the biggest difference as does the "big" gun packages.

Seems I mis-read!
It is true that these were not just mandated field conversion kits (is that even possible for superchargers?), they were actually the 603AA engine and as mentioned here, they were probably all shipped to other planes instead during those months (June/July). A RLM report had it that they were going to ship 380 of these to 410 units over those two months, but there are no verifications of any such thing occurring.
The 603AA was just a 603A with the 603G supercharger.

dive brakes :headscratch:
"Flaps" is the more correct term, despite them being blanketed as "brakes" by the AH keymapper.

you mean shift-c does something for the 410? Never knew that

They are essential when attacking bombers well below the current altitude ;)

The 410 has proper dive brakes, not "flaps".

Never heard of Me 410s geting the AA engine but it should not have been a problem to install it.
The only a/c I know of using the 603AA was the He 219 A-2 and the last fifteen A-0.
