Some of you may know the story of Vilkas, a long-time member of JG11. The short version is he was conscripted by the Luftwaffe from his home in Lithuania at the age of 13 to act as an interpreter and AA gunner. The longer version is fascinating and can be found here (http://jg11.org/history/vilkas/vilkas.htm).

Thanks Hammer.

I remember long time ago getting shot down by Vilkas and wondering just how he managed to get me with a field gun at 1.5 range, reading this story makes it obvious he was the coder of the field guns :)

I've watched Vilkas in events for years, and has always inspired and impressed me.
I've seen Hammer, time and time again, and for years, dig deep and expose the best of the best in these games that do nothing but bring incredible people together.
Thanks to both for being such amazing people.

It's great that we have a living piece of history amongst us. In AW, we had Earl1 that flew Jugsand other fighters in the MTO (his P-47 "Viking" is skinned in this game) and was a great resource of knowledge that used to post his daily logs on the Big Week forum. I hope one day someone sits down with Vilkas and does an in-depth interview with him about his war time experiences. It would be a fascinating to hear his story as a child-soldier in the German army.

<S> Vilkas
Thank you for remaining in the game!
(Earl's P-39 "Eloise" is also skined in this game)
