Buffer says it all. The last few days have been awful on my end. Must be a backbone down somewhere I don't know about...
-
Unfortunately you are not alone. Where are you connecting from ?

Whine, whine, whine.

Yeah, it's been pretty bad alright. Tonight was probably the worst night for me in months. My net status showed flat, but I guess there was some packet loss somewhere. I started off in a fight with a p38 that ended up warping like crazy when he began to turn. His wingy got me pretty quickly after I overshot him. Next sortie I ended up shooting down a zero, but I collided with part of it and we both got kills on each other. My last sortie was in an la5 and this time I got behind a yak and saw about 8 or 9 flashes all to his tail. Smoke started pouring out, and pieces fell off. Right before it went down I got discoed. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) That was enough for me for the night. Obviously somewhere here in Oregon there is something wrong with the net.

Coming from Bedford, IN. Things seem ok until I look at the net status- looked like Dick Cheany's EKG.

Something is definitely wrong. Folks warping like crazy. Check my net status and do a ping, checks out ok. Past 2 nights been seeing people warp from 500ft in front of me to 700ft behind me. Watched a Lanc warp about 3k, spraying me all the way. Must be a backbone overloaded somewhere.

No Kieran. I'm suffering too. But I think my isp is going down the toilet (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

Ok, I feel better (I think!)... misery loves company and all that rot. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Think I will lay out a few days and see what happens- whined a lot on open last night, a good sign it's time for a break...
-
Why is it, Kieran is the only one that gets my sense of humor. It really, worries me sometimes.
-
Me too.
I live in the UK, and my ping time usually rests about the 250ms mark.
I just checked my ping time and I discovered something truly awful: "The Sprintlink of Doom"(TM). Skuzzy always says this not a good thing to have.
Alt-route looks even worse tonight (750 ms). Looks like no AH again.

You can thank the Napster nuts and the media for the connections folks.
The media made yet another annoucement this morning about Napster, so I expect the connections will be pretty sloppy.
I will bo sooooo glad when Napster is dead.

Is that true - how much bandwith (as a percentage of the entire internet?) do Napster and it's users take up?
5%? 10%?
edit - the founder of Napster, Shawn Fanning, lived about 30 miles away from me. He's the Cape Cod hero of programming!

Verio has been spiking really bad recently.
Has everyone gone through the suggestions over at tweak3D.net? I dropped another 50ms off my ping by adjusting the network properties in Win98.

Think of Dallas. How many people in Dallas connect to Napster? We all have to contend with local traffic there. They're soaking us!

Your not alone.
For the last 4 days ive had unusual things happening to me in the air. I was b17 and an La5 came under my 6, watch him at 240 behind me and i let lose. Every bullet went through his plane, Every single one. No hits..
This has also been happening in fighter AC i was flying, 300 dead 6 shot, and bullets went right through them with no hits.
Net status showed everything was fine.Gets frustrating when T&Bing with Spits that should be dead, but fly through guns..
Dog out.....

Wardog-
That is exactly what I am seeing. Unload inside 500 gets squat.
I do thank the respondants today, that really does clarify things for me a lot. I figured something big must be happening on the net that I didn't know about. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

me to okieran - since 1.05 was rleased it has been very unstable. just got dsl though and seems a little more stable but hard to tell

Let's see, in a recent 24 hour period, Napster was told to have moved around 20 million files.
What's the average size of those things? 1MB? That's around 1 million MB's a hour of data over the Internet.
Does not take a rocket scientist to figure out why the Internet has been a shambles.

Nah, Mp3's are much bigger. 2-8 Megs is a nice range. I'd say an average would be about 4 Megs, being conservative. Most of mine are around 5 Megs and change.
Works out to about 926 Megs PER SECOND. Wow.
Die Napster DIE!

I had no idea they were that big. Sheesh. No wonder the Internet has been running slower than molasses that been sitting outside at the North Pole for a week.

May be it explains weird stuff happened to me in last 4-5 days like being killed right after takeoff by some guy who is not even logged in AH and with pure green clear sector on radar. Also I was getting about 5 disconnects every evening these days. Normally I have at most one disco per week if HTC does not plays with the servers.
