I would like the option to set my select weapon button to scroll thru the above options on my primary trigger.
Fire all would default to the primary and secondary at take off.
Thus saving several button functions on my JS for other stuff.
-
Are you looking for historical patterns or simple convenience?
-
Convenience...... To be able to scroll thru the above just using one button..... and fire the chosen option with another.
Right now I need 4 buttons (fire both, fire primary, fire secondary, select secondary)
-
switch it to 3 only then. set primary to one secondary to another then press both when you want to fire all guns. anything else will just be redundant. and keep a 3rd for switching as you still need to get rid of ords, rockets and fuel tanks and that would be accomplished by pressing the secondary button you already have.
that is how mine is set up. trigger is primary only, "pinky" is for secondary, i press both for all guns and have a "thumb" button for switch secondary and use pinky for it.

You can already do this. Set up multiple stick sets with what you want on the trigger. Then set up 1 button to cycle threw them.

Didn't think of that........... will try it out thanks.
Wish granted............... :aok

No it isn't! :furious
eg an IL2 with bombs and rockets loaded i want to cycle thru (with a cycle weapon set button)
Fire both (mg & cannon)
Fire primary (mg)
Fire secondary 1(cannon)
Fire secondary 2( bombs)
Fire secondary 3( rockets)
Multiple stick sets give me access to select
Fire both
Fire primary
Fire secondary
But I still need a different button for each stick mode.....3 buttons (stick mode selection is not via a scroll function like select secondary now)
I then have to access a 4th button to cycle thru and select secondaries....... and a 5th button as a trigger.
This then is not better than now where by I would use 3 triggers (fire both, fire primary, fire secondary and a 4th button to select secondary)
:joystick:

But I still need a different button for each stick mode....
No you don't. You can toggle through the modes with just one button. Program it this way:
In mode 1, the button switches to mode 2
In mode 2, the button switches to mode 3...
That's how I did it, because I too had the different modes defining the way my triggers acted. :old:

Thanks that gets me down to three buttons as I still need a to select secondary with another button............. my wish is to do this with 2 buttons

Are you asking for a button specific to weapons to cycle weapon combinations for the primary trigger to fire? Or do you simply want everything fired by the joystick trigger toggled for fire selection to that trigger by a single second button?
A.) Toggle Button Cycle Programmable List
Fire All = 1
Fire Primary = 2
Fire Secondary1 = 3
a = (Primary)
b = (Secondary guns)
c = (Secondary rockets)
Fire Secondary2 = 4
a = (Secondary guns)
b = (Secondary bombs 1)
c = (Secondary bombs 2)
B.) Toggle Button Cycle Programmable List
Fire All = 1
Fire Primary = 2
Fire Secondary = 3
Fire Secondary Bombs1 = 4
Fire Secondary Bombs2 = 5
Fire Secondary rockets = 6
Fire Secondary Drop Tanks = 7
In WW2 the closet thing to this was the german Knuppelgriff. Knopf FT, A, B1, and B2 along with P(x) buttons strapped on to it to cover multiple kits and additional functions. In many cases fire all was holding down two buttons at the same time. While the addon kits or bombs were separated to individual function on individual buttons.
Would it not be easier to ask for all weapons(guns, bombs, rockets, DT) to be cycled by a single button, then fired or dropped by the primary joystick trigger? And how far back into the 1990's do you want to go with our game?

........including the default fire all option in the cycle list

Tilt, out of curiosity as I dont think you thought about this. let's say your wish is granted, how would you know what is actually going to happen when you press the trigger? are you going to want also a way to see what mode you also selected. because it might get pretty confusing.
you are better off having separate buttons for primary and secondary. because you may go in to drop a bomb and not knowing that you have selected primary weapon. even if the secondary shows on the counter you still wont know for sure if you are actually gonna fire it.
perhaps another option would be to either get another joystick if you are limited on the number of buttons. just dont go crazy like me. I have 22 buttons, 4 4-way hat switches and 1 8 way hat switch. with the option to double or triple all of them by using software. and even more by using ah options.

well yes I have.............. and this is my wish.....and it is not beacause I am short of buttons (x52 pro with fighter stick)...its because I want to simplify functionality............
I have now set it to scroll between mode1, mode3, mode4 (fire all, fire primary,fire secondary).The mode select does give me a feed back in the radio buffer.
I agree that my wish would require me to know whether I have selected all, primary or secondary I have decided I can remember this. (of course the ordinance indicator advising me appropriately would be bonus)
-
you arent simplifying functionality you are complicating it for the sake of saving one button. and the advantage over having a different button set for primary and secondary is that you can fire either or both without having to press another button and perhaps cycling to get the appropriate selection.
for example:
you are in a fighter and behind this guy, you want to make him nervous so you fire primary only which is normally mg and only a couple of mg' as you dont want to waste ammo but more for him to see your tracers. but you get solution on him and only for 1/2 a second instead of cycling like you want, you just press also the secondary and fire away all guns and score a kill instead of letting him get away.
same thing for level bomber like the b26, if you are in the bomber position and see an enemy plane coming in for a ho then you press the primary trigger just to make him nervous and still drop bombs with secondary without switching positions.
and for tanks it gets a bit more complicated. do you really want to switch between ap, he, apcr and smoke using one button while trying to figure out if you have selected primary or secondary with another?

That's how it works on tanks now......
Re the rest I can do what you say with what I have wished for just as fast without having to move any thing to another button....one hand selects the other fires.
Semp don't get so wrapped up in this. I know what I wish for...... Have thought about it for some time...... It's a simple thing.....

How does this work out for the rest of the community?
What are the unintended consequences to general player satisfaction?
When I used the x52 and SST software, it seemed you could program a macros to accomplish all of this.
-
Since you have a Saikrap stick, use the programming software to do what you want.

Saitek software is PITA.................
In the main AH configuration is superb.............. in fact i can get more functionality from the buttons within AH than if I just used the Saitek stuff.
