They're having an Air Show!
http://www.truckeetahoeairfair.com/
Come check them out and see the planes!
I'll be there with the SoCal CAF (putting on a show and selling rides) with our P-51 Mustang - Man-O-War and our SNJ4/T6 Texan aka "Blue Bird". Ask for me, Ted, if you show up (or PM/Email me).
Last year everyone was surprised at how popular and well received the return of the annual air show at Truckee went, so this year they're feeding off that momentum and putting on a bigger show.
(Hope ROC sees this, I know he missed us last year)
((Holy shmack!, last year I got to meet a few Tuskegee Airmen there, this year the site says they're gonna have Bud Anderson AND Sullenberger as guests :x ))

Rats, I wish I would have seen this sooner. that's just a couple hours up the hill from me but my weekend schedule is already pretty well booked up.

I came, I saw, I :cry
I knew it was coming, but the family ack had other plans. Just a couple hours up the hill also....hmm wonder if anyone will notice if it takes a little longer than it should to get more ice from the store....

First ride is already on for 8am tomorrow, preliminary schedule has us performing for the show at 1:30pm. Couple of us will be up at dawn to coordinate getting the mustang up here, its posted up down the hill tonight closer to you two due to nasty/shifting crosswinds (and the wisdom of our newest mustang pilot) up here this afternoon.
If you make it you make it, I'm working on trying to get us up in NoCal for more shows (politics involved, toe stepping, etc.) and we're working on an idea to pitch to Reno this year at the races (a semi-orchestrated race with an assortment of WWII aircraft). Ill try to give better headsup, but its busy round here these days.

Between my earful from Bud (and my special signed copy of his book) and the free drinks tonight at the restraunt for us performers, I've decided the 14hr days on a tarmac and 5am wakeup call tomorrow are beyond worth my time as a volunteer.
I hate to brag much, I'm just a humbled aviation nut, but this weekdend has reinforced in me that these planes and history are my passion, and if I can do anything to share it with anyone also interested in this stuff, I will. The mile-wide grins today from our riders today on "my" planes made all that midnight oiling priceless. One thing though, its hard for me to believe I've only met two members from AH and my squad on the road the last few years in the air show circus (Semp and Doright (? I think.... :o )), but I do hope more someday.
And with that, ill be up before dawn with one of my pilots to preflight, finish up a half-dozen rides, and then a photoshoot on the way home... Stick time in T6 or backseat in mustang tomorrow on the way home - that is the question, and I can't decide atm... Ok, so maybe I'm gloating too much now (but I've worked for it) gnight!
'Til the next air show.
