I cannot have a desktop, I'm on the move too much. Alienware looks way expensive for the same specs, ASUS G75 I read bad reviews on sound board/touchpad.
MSI sounds good. I only play a few games, and I'm not into downloading TBs of movies/music.
$1,800

Do I really need to shell out $430 more for the 4GB Video card and 8GB Memory, or can I get away to play iRacing/Farcry/COD maxed out with the cheap one? How about if I hook a triple screen setup?
What you experts think? :headscratch:

you might want to look into who is building the msi (microstar international) laptops. from the layout, they look like Acer's (which suck) but, they could be coming from the same plant as the Asus. if you're going to play iracing on it, you're going to want the biggest cpu and as much gpu power as a laptop can have, even then, maxed out may not be possible just due to the architecture of laptops.
looking at the specs on both units, the $1300 unit should end up giving you better gaming performance due to core processor speed and gpu specs.

Thank you, ill get the cheap one.

FWIW, who would play any game on the touchpad? In every laptop comparison review they find differencies in touchpads. They are either too sticky or too slick.
Also, built-in soundcards have always some issues, they aren't intended for golden ears. Not to mention the sound quality of the built-in speakers. That's a problem with all computers, not only laptops. It's because the sound circuit can't be isolated enough from electromagnetic fields inside the case. Usually it isn't an issue in games, though. Crash, boom and bang alongside with wroom and whoosh don't suffer from the barely audible humm.

Frenchy, I love my Asus. Its fast, big screen and was right around 1400...runs everything in AH with ease.

Biz, I have to play with earphones not to disturb others, and I use a USB mouse anyway thus I think I'll be alright. Ty for the advice.
5.0 (Or should I call you Coyote ), Glad to know about your ASUS, Coperhead in here also loves his. I think for the same price, I'll get the MSI. Someone on an another forum advised me to get it from Newegg rather than BestBuy, he says they are not built by the same place :headscratch:
Thx guys, appreciated.

I thought you'd be using at least earphones for decent undistorted volume ;) The built-in Realtek sound circuitry makes some noise in my SpeedLink Medusa 5.1 headset (plug version), Windows main volume set at 2, all sub-volumes at 10 and the USB powered amplifier at 3. I can even hear my mouse movements! But when in game or just listening to any content all the background noise seems to disappear. And after all, who would wear headphones without listening to something?
