Title: Not a Wish, a begging for mercy
Post by: Vulcan on July 17, 2013, 05:20:51 AM
Dear Hitech and Pyro, I don't often ask for stuff (planes etc).

Today I received a Oculus Rift VR dev kit. It is the 4th VR headset I've owned.  And hopefully will be the 3rd I've used with AH (previous being an Emagin Z800 and Vuzix Warp pile of poo).

This headset is the bees knees, it is a total game changer in VR. The tracker is stunningly smooth, the FoV is insane, and the screen is clear and bright (the res on the dev kit could be better but I understand the consumer versions will be 1080 res).

In the past I've gotten my previous headsets working with AH (tracking and stereo 3D). But the Rift requires a 'distortion' for its wide FoV lenses.

My experience with the rift has been mind blowing compared to previous VR systems, I felt like I could reach out and touch stuff in the demo's.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE write some native support for the Rift. The dev version is great for VR nerds like me who need a fix of new tech. And when the consumer version comes out it will be game changing.

Wow, so do you put this thing on your head and when you turn your head it should make it like you're actually looking around in the cockpit? That's awesome!

I think this is the point where large bribes become appropriate...

Questions:

1. Does it give you a neck ache after a while? My giant Sony headphones gives me a neck ache if I put them on for too long (though they sound awesome).

2. I assume you pretty much have to "muscle memorize" where the keyboard is right?

3. How do I get one?  :pray  :x
