My notes show that the development Yak7B's were originally equipped with 6 rockets or 2 x 25 to 100KG bombs. It under took trials in April 42 but upon entering series production (May 42)the rockets were dropped from use but the bomb racks remained.
Also as of May42 an additional 17.6 Imp gallon fuel tank was added behind the cockpit (to help prevent nose over on landing). It lacked self sealing systems or armourment.
It was removed in the field without permission.
So the Yak7B should
>have bombs not rockets.
>have an extra tank @ 80 litres (unless we allow its removal as a field modification...which would be the exception that proves rule IMO)

"should be", eh? I wouldn't mind the bombs, I think if there is enough evidence that the Yak-7B dropped bombs and it came from the factory that way then lets hope HTC will consider it in the future.
This is a good time to mention the Fw190F-8 and the 8/50kg bomb option, too! :aok

Gordon & Khazanov:
Following state acceptance trials, the State Defense Committee issued a directive that Yak-7A production was to be converted to Yak-7B. As early as April 1942 the first production Yak-7B was rolled off the assembly line at
Novosibirsk Plant No.153,and the fighter at once began to reach the front line units. From late May the rocket projectiles were removed to improve performance, though the under-wing bomb racks were retained.
So, from this I understand that the initial production aircraft (~month's production) was equipped with the rockets. Of course those didn't yet have the M105PF engine our Yak has based on its performance. When the Yak-7B was starting to come with the M105PF they also removed the wiring for the rockets and therefore removing the provision for rocket completely.
So, as Tilt said it would be correct to remove them and add the bombs instead as we have a slightly later production version in AH but a small number went to front lines with the rocket rails.

Does anybody have a photo of the Yak-7B with bomb racks?

Here is a very good interview with russian fighter pilot I. Kozhemyako
http://www.airforce.ru/history/ww2/kozhemjako/page_2.htm
He says that they used RS rockets for only a few months and later on used bombs (only 2x100 kg) and only on Yak-7B as a factory setup. He mentioned also their squad used field modification with 2x100 kg bombs for all models of Yak-1 and Yak-9 as well with the exception of Yak-9D and Yak-9DD.

Does anybody have a photo of the Yak-7B with bomb racks?
I thought I had seen one but can't seem to find it now. I know it would be a good proof of the load out's existence but I also understand you need pics in order to model the bomb racks etc. I'll try to find something.
