Title: New family member.
Post by: Rich46yo on July 20, 2013, 01:54:38 PM
Blitz would say hello but he's a bit tired (http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr149/Rich46yo/Blitz_zps24bb4920.jpg)

Heres his parents (http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr149/Rich46yo/blitzparents_zps787af13a.jpg)

The sire is the stud on the left. With his bloodlines I cant believe I got this pup so cheap.

And he's a good pup. Likes people, alert, playful, full of life.

Best dogs in the world IMO. I have a white German Shepherd now and have had 2 others in the past, both black and silver. I've always wanted a pure black one. If my wife would let me I'd have a dozen German Shepherds around here...I just think they're a beautiful dog.

Ya, I always wanted a Shep but since Ive been a hunter all my life I always had hunting breeds. I really didnt want this guy but my wife insisted. As much as I love dogs Im getting old and they do crimp your style and are a lot of work.

I wanted a shep cause I need a good dog to watch the house and my wife when Im not home. The eastern Euro blood lines were going for up to 3,000 $ and I got lucky finding this breeder. I ended up with a pup with very fine blood lines for $550. An incredible stroke of luck.

Heck my neighbor has a rescue Shep mix and its a great dog. To keep a house secure you really do need a good dog.

To keep a house secure you really do need a good dog.

Until the cops show up without a warrant and shoot it, just because.

Gee, thanks for joining in eagle.

Sorry, I couldn't resist the jab at the canine "home defense" because of recent events.  There have been several recent incidents locally and around the country of cops shooting dogs on their own properties when the cops showed up without warrants and forced their way onto a property or into a house, or were otherwise hassling "bystanders" and then ended up shooting their dogs when they tried to protect their humans.  I can't stand hearing about animals getting abused like that, and it's worse when its a cop exercising his authoritah unnecessarily.

Oh you mean the idiot who didnt move away from a armed robbery/hostage scene when ordered to by the police "instead wanting to shoot video" and ended up getting his dog killed by his own stupidity? That idiot?

Which is exactly the kind of poster I needed in my "new dog joy" thread. Most of all since Im a PO myself.

Gosh, thanks again for chirping in. I think I'll go put on the perma-press and the tin star and go murder some dogs now.

Quota is 1/2 dozen a day.

Little Blitz ran me ragged today. But at least I got some time alone with him, "wife and kid are hogging him". Of course I was nominated for "poop management". :uhoh

The only cops I trust are the highway patrol - never met a one that was on a power trip. Straight to business, no BS, by the book.

I had a city bicycle cop hassling me the other day about where I parked my motorcycle. It wasn't illegal, he just didn't like the way I parked "on his street" I asked if I was being detained because it wasn't a consensual encounter. He said no, so I hopped on my bike and left.

Alsatians used to nice looking dogs but for the last few years they look like someone put the boots to their back side.

Cops come in two types.

Good ones. And Bad ones.

Thankfully most of them are good, at least in Australia. Got some real good ones. Considering I serve them breakfast most days.

That said, I have never met a retriever I didn't like. Golden or Labrador. They are the bomb.

I tend to agree Milo!   In the late 70's early 80's they changed the stance of the dog, instead of the squared of stance that you see most show dogs use to"pose" the shepards owners started to do this split rear legs and angled top line thing.

This has led to a change in the top line of the dog to help promote the "look" thankfully there are still some breeds that are keeping the working lines alive and they don't suffer as badly trying to get a "look". Of course it's not just the Alsatians that got this treatment many other breeds have suffered because of a "look" or "type" Boxers are another,so are Dobermans and the list goes on,it was also to blame for human aggressive pits, this was a case of a type over look but much the same thing.

All one has to do is look at dogs in film,go back to the 50's and earlier and you can planely see how much some breeds have changed and rarely for the better.

    :salute

PS: yup Dent still active and looking forward to seeing you again.

morf, the English Bulldog has to be one of the worst for being modified for looks. The nose has been push back so far the dog has trouble breathing. Thankfully this is changing and the nose is going back to what it should be.

Agreed,I've seen skeletal pictures of OEbulldogs from the 1900 and present and they don't even look to be the same breed.

On the otherside it was how the different breeds were developed, bred to a type for generations,a standard for the breed is developed then hopefully 1 of the organization will recognize it.

My fav the staffy was around for several hundered years in different shapes and sizes and wasn't until 1935 that a standard for the breed was made!
