Now I can sleep easily tonight. ;)

 ehh...on second thought...

Except for the royal family and British subjects, I cannot think of anyone, especially Americans who really care. Royal children are no better than the other children born to the world. :headscratch: We got rid of the born to its, 200+ years ago. There was quite a good reason for this I believe. :O

Annnnnnnnnnnnnd nobody gives a $#!^. :neener:

Well, I'll tell ya, my wife (neither royal family nor subject of the crown) actually does care. Some of the members of this forum are British subjects, many aren't, unlike you, I can't speak for any of them as to whether they care or not nor their degree of care, if they do. If you don't care, thanks for taking the time to not care so 'vocally.' Most threads I don't care about .... I don't care about enough to hissy in. :D
-
Glad the couple had a healthy child.
 Oz

remind your wife millions of women have babies around the world, it's not that big of a deal.. :neener:
a puppy would be more exciting... :lol

My day has become a little brighter.

My wife's pretty bright, she is. Just the other day she, and I both, learned about internal combustion engines and how electricity works. She's a mother of two, herself. She has no idea, whatsoever, about what is more of a big deal over any other thing, though. She certainly wouldn't have seen this thread as snipe sport. I'll save her from that. It would only serve to confuse and possibly irritate ..... much in the same way it appears to have with many of the posters in it. :D

I got phone calls all day from my wife..."Kate's in the hospital!!!" yadda yadda.....
So she's really into it....for me...well, it's more a symbolic position. I wouldn't want their job. But kudos to william and harry....they're vets.
And Kate's a babe.

Many Americans actually liked having a king, it gave them weight to business transactions, especially New York based firms dealing across the Atlantic. The only problem was the common people. They didn't want to pay him money that wasn't going to their lives in the colonies so they got rid of him "No Taxation without Representation".
Rather ironic when you think about it... taxes being paid to people who don't put it where its needed, sounds familiar.
But as both a British Subject and a Colonial it is a very good thing to have a future King of England and while I can't say I'm a fanatic. I do like to see that the Monarchy is continuing a tradition of over 1000 years. Especially considering I do have some nobleman in me (Mother was a descendant of the Duke of Monmouth, got executed by Puritans for trying to restore King Charles in the English Civil War).
Its a good day to be a Briton.

Atta girl! :aok

*sigh* 'tis troubling ye hath no pride nor chivalry. Be gone ye filth! ;)
I for one am happy for the Royal family, I wish them many years of happiness and perhaps before I leave this world I will have seen the young lad be crowned King. This American has many roots from the British Isles, most notably in NW England and SW Scotland, so while I am dear to my country through and through if ever I were ever in the presence of the Queen, Prince Charles, Princes Harry or William, the new born Prince, and/or their spouses I'd be certain to give them the respect they deserve.

Kings were originally made through the same capitalist success as the Donald Trumps of this world. The first in a royal family got there by merit. Being born into the success of your ancestors is nothing to be ashamed of or to look down on. Thinking you have done yourself a favour by not having a royal family is silly. It makes no difference one way or the other in this day and age. There will always be 'born to it's' in many different forms. Just because your successfully tyrants do no claim to be kings does not make your society any more free.
That being said, as a brit, I have no interest in the new royal baby or the royal family. I'm happy to let them just get on with it in peace.

Not caring is typically American... The British royal family is responsible for an enormous amount of charitable work around the world, and this baby is a symbol of the continuation of their legacy and work. It's also symbolic of the passing of the responsibilities to a new generation, and hopefully a breath of fresh air into a family hit badly by scandals, poor behavior, and tragedy.
Americans are typically too self centered to notice, but this actually is sort of a big deal. Imagine if the Rockefeller family controlled GM, Microsoft, and Wal-Mart, and had been that influential for 20 generations. Think we'd pay attention to who might someday run the company? Well, the Brit royal family is sort of like that. They have global influence and in general only Americans are too caught up chasing pop culture to notice.
Not saying we ought to be celebrating or making a fuss about it, but going out of your way to express disdain or contempt is mostly a sign of ignorance about global events. Just sayin.
-
Well I care......a bit. I have a tenner bet that he'll be called James at 8/1. Here's hoping!
As it happens I visited Windsor Castle last week, well dragged there on a visit to England by my wife but it was interesting and impressive it has to be said. The Queen was in residence but she declined to meet us. :cry

The Rockefeller's have much greater influence than that now and no one cares. Big part of why we are circling the drain here. Our Royal Baby this month is named North West.
-
Americans have their own 'royals'. ie entertainers, sports people, ex presidents, ......
-
I would consider myself a Royalist, and I have served the crown in various roles since 1993, but I am so sick and tired of yet another round of tedious "news" articles from 'outide Kate's hospital, or, 'on a lawn where Kate is thought to have played croquet once'.
Seriously, who gives a toss?
I am pleased the baby's healthy and happy for the parents but does everyone really need this incessant drivel?
It's hardly a love story, the girl and her extremely affluent family spent nearly her whole life grooming her to be his wife, anyone else it would have been a stalking conviction and a restraining order :old:

Yeah, unlike our first family that doesn't have any of that.

So sad it's hilarious.

Well congrats to out Brit cousins.
If its important to them then its important enough for us to congratulate them.
And I laugh at Americans who think we dont have "Royalty" here. We only deceive ourselves. Anyway good for them.
-
British and really don't give a xxxx. Lots of us don't, despite the media pushing it down everyones throat
-
As a colonial, I care, and I'm happy for them and for our Commonwealth. I really respect both of the Royal Princes, they've put it on the line overseas, especially Harry, doing ops over top of enemy forces that would cut him into little bits if he had an engine failure or anything over enemy lines, not to mention doing a partial ground tour prior to that.
Long live the future King.

Being nasty about little ones being born is a bit odd :old:
I am the biggest nob in game :)
Being contemptuous of any new born is not very pleasant :old:
I am so awesome I am awesome like the Yak3 :old:

If they don't name it "Kong", I'm officially uninterested.

:rofl
off with his head! :old:

It would suck if every moment of your life was planned out before you were born. :(
Btw... Did you know queen Victoria was a bigger pothead than I am? Apparently the royal family knows how to party.

Very true... Congrats on their child... not sure why its all that important to US citizens but as with anyone who has recently had a child I wish them the best.
EDIT:
:rofl
off with his head! :old:
First we must teach the child to say "Let them eat cake!" :D

My name's Dolby, and I don't give a f...udge. There's 1 born every minute.

The Queen is highly respected on this side of the pond. Huge numbers turned out for her last visit.
She has a lot of class. She's been a rock her entire life.
-
The Queen is a splendid lady. Gawd bless her.
And Phil the Greek. What a card :aok
I met Queeie once, she aluded to an interest in Rugby, also Princess Alexandria, I held the bridle of an orificers horse whilst she had her piccy taken. The horse had a more than impressive erection :uhoh

Named. George Alexander Louis. For a while there I was worried they'd name him Trayvon and go loot a Tesco in his honor, but thankfully tradition won.
