Title: ENY System for Ords
Post by: Tinkles on July 23, 2013, 05:37:30 AM
I am unsure really how this would effect gameplay. If you don't like it or disagree please elaborate as to why.

Getting a kill with 250lbers / 100lbers should get you more perks then killing them with 1000lbers.

4000lber - 0.0 ENY
2000lber - 0.0 ENY
1000lber - 5.0 ENY
500lber  -  15-20 ENY
250lber  -  30 ENY
100lber  -  40 ENY

Rockets (No clue on rockets and their damage or what they are best at. From the perspective of F4U's rockets I say a solid 15 ENY)

For a community whom say they are against "hordes" then this should be easy.

Thanks for your time.

Sounds smart to me. I think it would reduce the number of fighters being used as bomb trucks.

So would this my a multiplier for the perks earned? Because 2000lbs and 4000lbs would result in zero perks earned.

+1 for the idea though. Would love to get some reward for flying the 190F over the bomb trucks.

I like the principle of this idea but only if its used on fighters which would rule out the non perk problem with the 2k and 4k bombs. Anything that stops the fight killing 38 hordes would be good tbh.

I know the no gun mossie has cookie bombs, but because it's perked that would be OK by me.

This was mainly anti-horde, not anti everything-that-carries-a-bomb-loadout :)

I'm not sure how they would implement an ENY system for ords, if it were easy enough they'd already have it me thinks.

IMO, the best thing HTC could do is to allow the 250 lb and 100kg bombs and smaller to ALWAYS be available at every field regardless.  Then, scale the effect based on the number of ord bunkers that are still left.  1 ord bunker down = no heavy ord including torpedoes.  The second ord bunker down = no 1000 lb or 500 lb bombs.  HTC would have to come up with another way to scale it though, there are either 4 or 2 ord bunkers on every field (mostly 2).

Then, I wish they'd INCREASE the penalty for having the fuel tanks destroyed down to a max of %50 fuel instead of %75.  Obviously, there is no strategic value otherwise we'd see fuel tanks destroyed far more often.

Last but not least, I wish HTC would lower the hardness on the barracks.  Why in the world HTC made it so easy destroy a concrete reinforced bunker, and so "difficult" to destroy a plywood and canvass barracks is a bit odd.  There are at minimum FIVE barracks on a field.  Case in point: there should be different hardness levels.

I think perked ordnance has been a long-standing wish.

Currently it kind of does work in the game that useing planes only capable of carryign smaller ordnances (higher ENY) will net you higher perk point gainage.  I suck at the math, but as I understand it: if you use a P-51D though (a very low ENY plane), capable of carryign rockets and 1000lbers, then you gain minimal perk points.  The shortsightedness of this system as it stands is it doesn't differentiate the reward for a kill with a P-51D against say a Tiger with a 5"/250lb/1000lb.  Or, alternatively, if you use a TBM with a 2,000lber.

Years ago a perked ordnance system was envisioned by HTC

One exemplary quote:

It just means that in addition to charging perk points for perk planes, we can also charge perk points for ordnance.  How it will work is you will have to use your perk points to equip your plane.  Every rocket, bomb, and round of ammunition will cost perk points.  The more powerful something is, the more it will cost.  .50 caliber rounds will be a lot cheaper than 20mm rounds, but you do carry a lot more of them.  The cool thing is that if you score a hit with a round, you will not be charged for that round. So if you get really close and hit with all of your rounds, it won't cost you any extra perk points.  .30 caliber rounds will always be free so even if you run out of perk points, you can still fly a Spit I or Hurricane I.  Note that if you get shot down you will be charged for all the ordnance that was on the plane.  Another cool thing about this is that if you like the heavy weaponry but aren't such a good shot, you will now be able to buy additional perk points with your credit card so you can always get that extra boost if you really want it.
(Please do not punt the original thread this quote is coming from  :pray)

At that time all the F4Us were remodeled but the F4U-C with the explicit explanation that under such a perked ordnance system, the 4x20mm gun loadout would be just another perked option:

Quote
Revised the 3D shapes of the F4U's. The F4U-1C was excluded from the revision as it will eventually be dropped as a separate plane when a perk ordnance system is developed.
(from that patch read.me notes)

Nothing came ever out of it, and some time later the C-hog was updated as well. Now I can think of a few reasons why some of the stuff mentioned by Pyro (buying perks with credit card) was never implemented, but no explanation was ever given for a total shelving of the Perked Ordnance System.
But fact that this talk happened about 7 years ago without any implications says a lot.

I would be pro - perked ordnance as long as you had a reasonable opportunity to earn back the perks you spent on the ords, by hitting what you were aiming at. That could cut down on the lancstukas. Goes sort of back to my incentivizing tactical targets.

If I pay 1 perk for a 1000 lbr, regardless of ENY, I should get 1 perk back if I hit a target (tank, hanger, building).

+1 - but you still should get some value of accurately dropping a 4k turd on someones tank turret... :D

I would also like to see specialized ground attack planes some-what less affected by this. The Ju-87 carries so few bombs, you have to be stupid not to take the 1800kg one, unless climb rate is a concern for you.

I just found the b29 is the BEST bomb tarding platform ever.  :t

Go ahead and perk it more
