Title: Transferring settings to a newer install/computer
Post by: Brent Haliday on July 24, 2013, 12:20:47 PM
I searched the above and nothing came up, I just need to know the process if there is one for getting your settings from one install to a newer one.  Sorry for the trouble I am sure this is posted someplace but have not found it.

Thanks,

BH

The "settings" folder contains all game settings.

However, make sure to delete the "video8.cfg" file, as the old one will not match the computer you are transferring the files to.

Yes, the "video8.cfg" file contains the game video settings.  If you are moving to a new computer, you need to allow the game to detect your new graphics systems so if can build a set of proper defaults in the "video8.cfg" file.

Would that include stick settings and aircraft views?  I'm ready to flush the system and reinstall just aces high.

Yes,you can also save skins and maps folders and plop them in the new install, should be good to go!   I keep a copy on a zipdrive, have to update that if I make any changes or add a new controller but that's easy enough even I can do it.

I've switched over several comps and it only takes a few minutes, instead of the several hours it takes to reset all those views!
