In with a Emil!

Is it possible to only register for 2 frames and not the entire thing? I will be hunting in Montana during frame 1 and 2
-
excellent :rock
-
Sadly, during my work hours.
-
Go ahead BluBerry, if it fills and we need the slot, we'll figure something out.
-
At the moment, I don't think I'd be able to commit to it. Hopefully I'll be able to grab a a spot as a walk on if I get loose. We'll see as the event gets closer.
-
Gonna have some fun in Emils this time around :aok

NM. Finally got it.
Show-Up Time is 3 pm US Eastern Time. (For how that translates to your time, here is a time converter.) All frames run in the Special Events II arena. The scenario starts at 3:00 PM preparation and organization is part of the scenario and the half hour until launch is part of that process. Please show up on or before Show-Up Time to play. The arena will be closed to admittance at Show-Up Time. The purpose of locking the arena a half hour before launch is this.
:headscratch:
-
If anyone gets stuck at registration, just let me know. I'll jump in the back end and get you squared away.

It makes perfect sense. It's been discussed ad nauseum. People showed up at launch time far too much and screwed the entire event. Forcing them to get there before it locks allows everything to be prepared PROPERLY before launch. Less scrambling. Less nonsense. Less problems. Less stress. Those that cared about participating always showed up at LEAST 30 minutes early anyways.
-
I think what BaldEagl is pointing out that both show up time and start time are stated as 3:00 PM. Gonna have to fix that
-
Oh.... that.... :bolt:
-
Registered for the He-111. :)
-
Ya, can probably clean that language up a bit but the event does include the briefing period, after the lock, as actually part of the event. There needs to be time to make adjustments for turnout, get people in squads, get the walkons actually briefed and up to speed. So technically, the event does actually Start at 3:00. Flight is enabled 30 minutes later. Late is after 3:00.
-
Looking forward to fly Hurricanes for the RAF, I better hurry up and buy a mic haha

Show up time is 3:00 and the scenario starts at 3:00. Where does the 30 minutes come from?
NM, you have to go halfway through the detailed rules write-up to find that launch time is at 3:30. If that's the case it sounds to me like the scenario starts at 3:30 no?
-
cant decide hurries or 109s help

No, the scenario starts at 3:00 pm edt, flight starts at 3:30 pm edt.
-
Flight is enabled at 3:30. No where does it suggest the event "starts" when flight is enabled.

Not everything can be at the top. Everything is in the rules, and it should all be read so really, where it is shouldn't matter at all.

Then why even mention the half hour in the general write up?
-
So that people understand "doors locked" does NOT equate to "take off"....
Judging by your response, I'd say it's warranted.

I'm not trying to start an argument and I do know how scenarios work. As the the write up is written it mentions a 30 minute set up time completely out of the blue with no context. To me the way it's written up means if the arena lock time is 3:00 I better be there by 3:00 but it also means if the scenario starts at 3:00 I better be there by 2:30.
Again, not trying to start an argument but that part of the write up is fluffied up. Hard to believe from such a perfectionist as ROC.
Anyway this brief experience has soured the experience for me so unregister me. I simply try to question how somethings wrtitten and get jumed on. Don't need it.
-
Relax, sleep on and then decide BE. You know how it works. Now focus on getting ready to fly it...or not
-
I don't think you were "jumped on" at all, BE. Nor do I think you were just asking a question if you already knew the answer. I can only ask what you were trying to say by posing the question. I replied honestly as if you didn't know (though I rather knew you knew the answer already) in an attempt to educate others on the forum.
No need for drama. Just fly the scenario and have some fun. You know you want to. You know you'll enjoy it.

I hope our American cousins jump in a bit earlier to the battle this time.
If London falls, Washington D.C is next.
132 German fighters against only 102 British fighters, this isn't even accounting for drone bombers of which there will be many.
So I ask that in our darkest hour we fill every vacant machine that can carry a noble fighter pilot for the most daunting of tasks. When your head is spinning because you just engaged 6 109's in a death circle to the deck and you've given three of them a bloody nose you can say.
"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."
-
Only 4 stukas, did I read that right?
Also kill shooter is off, if a 110 pilot suddenly decided to do the right thing and turn his guns on nazi bombers he'd be a hero. :salute
-
Some of the 68th has signed up already!
We flew Allies last time this one ran. We ended up with some of the best dogfights we've ever had. Looking forward to having that again!

Oh come on, no one is jumping on you :) Everyone interprets things differently. Language can be clarified, it's all good. I can see where it can be misleading or misinterpreted. It's text, I'll clarify it, now go register and have some fun. Worlds wound up too tight, we all need to just go play :D

"What General Weygand called the Battle of France is over. I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own British life, and the long continuity of our institutions and our Empire. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us. Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this Island or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour.'"

Bomber pilots, this battle revolves around you!
Come join me in He 111's in their first appearance in a scenario. Be a part of history! :aok

damnit, football season and WEC race the last weekend of September.
-
Only 4 stukas, did I read that right?
There is one group that has, as its primary plane, Ju 87's in the 1st 2 frames and Bf 109's with bombs the 2nd 2 frames.
All fighter pilots get one life in fighters and one life in Ju 87's, so there will be a lot of Ju 87's around.
-
so there will be a lot of Ju 87's around.
Unless the LW fighter jocks stay alive then...not so many :D
-
IN! :D (Always wanted to say that!) :aok

How long is it expected to take to get into action in this scenario for a Spitfire pilot? I only ask because of a time conflict on a couple of the days where I'll only have until about 4:45 EST until I'll have to leave and if I should just walk-on rather than sign up. Thanks in advance. :airplane:
-
There is an exceptional chance you will see action based on your schedule.

IN! :D (Always wanted to say that!) :aok
LOL Flossy! I wish I could attend this event. It is always a good one.

LOL I saw Skuzzy on this thread, thought Oh Gawd now what happened :rofl

Someone gets Skuzzy to attend I might try to as well

Great! Signed up, and I'm really looking forward to it. Now I just have to get the old Spitfire ready to shoot down some hot-shot yellow nosed 109s :neener:

Here is an extra large map of the BoB40 terrain for you mission planners. It's roughly 3,800 x3,800 so you can make a nice wall map if you want Smiley

Hehe.... I wish you could too, Skuzzy!! Would be great to see you there.... :old:
-
I think Skuzzy should join, in fact, it should be an HTC requirement. Imagine those joining up to shoot him down! It would be a blockbuster turnout!!! :x Of course, there would be lines forming up to also defend him, so both sides would benefit greatly. Oh Dale........
-
It will be interesting to see the Battle from the Luftwaffe perspective. Usually I am in a merlin
ride for the BoB :D Time to watch that fuel gauge!
-
This is a sample of why I don't participate. The scenario hasn't started yet and already the nit picking on starting times etc.
Just register, show up on time and have fun. If you wish to complain, get married you'll have enough to comment negatively about ;)
There will be plenty of time to bash the CMS, Designers and Team COs' when the event starts. Believe me the insults will fly then.
Have patience.
-
Joey there will be a Spitfire waiting for you bro.
godspeed! :salute
-
I would register...but the registration site still hasn't emailed me my confirmation... which is required when you register...
:noid

Ill take a look Mr. Fork.
[edit] PM Sent.

Hajo, don't let em get to you, it's all part of the event wind up. I learned long ago that you don't get passionate events without passionate people, it's all good.
Now take your own advice, just register, show up and have fun :D

Hajo! Come on it, pal! :aok

I find the arguments about the time a bit funny. Why not just show up at least 30 minutes prior? Really. That. Simple. If you counter with, "Oh work will only allow me to JUST make it" or, "I have family needs to attend to", then I would advise on NOT registering, but coming in as a walk-on. From what it seems like, when you register, plans are made with the assumption that you'll be there, and "on time". :aok
Treat it like FSO, and just show up early. :aok :salute
-
In with the Sturzkampfflugzeug! I'd get a kick if they modeled the sirens for the 'B' we don't have.

You're choosing not to participate in the scenario because of what happens in the forum? I think you're doing it the wrong way around.

damnit, football season and WEC race the last weekend of September.
Football? What's that? Sounds VERY UNIMPORTANT compared to this upcoming Scenario... :noid :D
Also, I am most certainly happy to see that Flossy will be taking the 88's up. I was a little worried that no one would fly her, or would fill the 111 slots LONG before going to the 88's. :salute
-
Hajo would have a tough time choosing sides in this scenario..no Jugs on either team :x :airplane:

Poor Hurri... Spitty slots filling up about 5 times quicker... :old:

The new model hurricane is more resilient and battle hardened than ever, Not to mention how pretty the new cockpit now looks.
I think with a bit of Spit and Polish you could get another 5MPH out of her!
I only registered Spitfire incase my squadron needs me, but I will be defending certain areas of the south coast and will take any plane that has ammunition in it. :old:
PS: can I count on you snailman to kill some HE111's??

It will take you all day to look and read everything they have collected. From a buried Hurricane cockpit pieced back together, bits of scrap German metal, original pilot uniforms. I'll be sharing some more in the RAF forum as we go.
