Title: An interesting re-analysis of the loss of HMS Prince of Wales
Post by: Karnak on August 04, 2013, 08:38:41 AM
I found this modern report on the loss of HMS Prince of Wales to be pretty interesting.  It has a lot of detail about the effects of bombs and torpedoes on ships, most specifically King George V class ships of course, but in general as well.  The report is based on examinations of the wreck and survivor testimony.

It also includes a photo I'd never seen before, that being of the damaged caused by the German bomb that landed near her while she was fitting out.

Is that the report where the divers had gotten into the propeller shaft/engine room area?

Yes, that confirmed previously doubted testimony of when the shaft failed.
