My wish is for it to be raised to ten characters

I meant for callsigns since you can only use 8 letter/numbers it tends to limit you

My guess it is for data effeciencies within the database. I'm pretty sure the servers are running some flavor of UNIX, so it kind of makes sense.

I personally don't see a problem with 8 characters, as I'd rather not type a whole sentence just to communicate with someone.

good point but i don't see how adding two extra letters or number would alter the game much it just it limits what callsigns you can put like mine for example
it was suppose to be Tracerfire but the character limit prevented me from doing so

I understand completely. But if they expanded the data field to 10 characters, someone will ask for 15. Just like those who wish they could get a successful landing if their shadow touches concrete, when the current settings are to require actually being on concrete.  ;)
