4 .303s or 2 .50s  :headscratch: what do you choose and why?

I would take .50 for the bigger punch they carry.

Quad .303s because I am not a good shot and the 370 rounds per gun in the .50 don't give me enough firing time.  The .50s have more punch though.

Really depends on the mission profile.

Strat run? 4 303's.

Short low alt run, 50's.

303's work really good when the enemy is 200 away tho :aok
but he 50's have better range and more punch at a distance

To be honest, my own solution for this dilemma is not to take a Lancaster at all  ;)

With the .303's you can give attacking players the imPRESSION that you can hurt them for a very long time (that is, until they actually attack, and find the cute little bullets just bounce off, or at worst, create a PW)

I would take the two .50s as the .303s do not have the hitting power to disable an enemy if he is intent on destroying you regardless of risk to himself. For the vast majority of players this appears the case.
That being said I do not like flying the lancaster at all and rarely do so because its defensive armament is terrible compared with a B17 or a B24 and unless the skies are enemy free it is unlikely that I would be able to find usefulness in its greater ordinance capacity before I lose all my planes.

Bear in mind the AH version only allows twin .50s in the tail turret. There is no quad top turret or twin .50 top turret, so you're stuck with twin .303s in the top turret and have no option for single .50 anti-schragemusik in H2S position either. Therefore, don't even contemplate using the guns. The lancs main weapon is speed and ability to dive like a bomb, outdiving the majority of defenders or at least delaying the attack until escorts arrive and enemy fuel is lower.

I take the .303 option with 10,000 rounds and will rtb with only 2000 rounds left. I will fire off as much ammo as I can, only a few enemy will not be deterred by this. I fire at 1k to 1.5k distance and let them know I am awake and ready. I will fire, even when out of shot, simply to stop them re-entering 1k distance or getting into a shooting position. Don't get TOO low in a lanc either, the top turret becomes useless if you are noe. Don't be dying in a lanc with 9000 rounds left.

The way to survive is be very fast when they approach from behind, at 800 yards go to WEP and steepest climb.

Unless you have aimbot or years of experience, take 303 and put on a show, every mile gained counts.

The .50s.  Longer range and more hitting power than the quad .303s.  Remember, the .303 round is rifle caliber round.

I have a couple weeks experience and I know that talk about things like this are highly frowned upon.   I would think twice before mentioning anything of this nature in the future.
