I wonder, did the turrets have some sort of system that blocked the firing circuit or trigger if the guns swept over the rudders in that top turret?  It seems like in the dark, particularly during the confusion of combat and plus losing your night vision from firing those things, it'd be SO easy to accidentally mow your own tail with some .303's.

Pretty good video IMO.  They sure give a great perspective of what the gunners saw.  In the first video you can see a four ship formation at about 2 miles or so in the distance plain as day.  I'm sure during daytime the gunners had a good chance of getting some shots into pursuing fighters if they attacked from the rear quarter.  The 2nd video, near the end, with those 4 barrels sticking out....wow, nothing like 4000 rpm at your fingertips.
