I went to see Elysium the other day. Very good flick, 3 to 3 & 1/2 stars. Could have been 15 mins longer and gine into a bit more detail but still a good movie. I guess nowdays you have to wait until extended DVD versions come out. I still like the theater but these IMAX 3Ds are just to much. They are so loud I come out shell shocked. I miss watching good old grainy film.

Oz in 3D at The IMAX....that's about it..
-
I want to see Europa Report but its playing in One theater in a city of 3 m. What the heck kinda marketing strategy is that?

Saw RED 2 on Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed it (still trying to decide if I liked it better than first, though). Waiting anxiously for "Ender's Game". Also plan to see Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, though I may wait for video. Oh, and I saw "Pacific Rim", which was quite entertaining, IMO. Of course, I was always a fan of the Japanese monster films when I was growing up, so I was naturally drawn to this one.

Despicable Me 2 and Turbo so far. Gonna see Planes next weekend.
I have 10 and 4 year old boys so ...well ya know.
Turbo was good. Despicable Me 2 was ok.

The last movie I seen in a theater was Rocky Horror Picture Show at the midnight showing. You have to be half crazy to pay movie theater prices these days when you can wait 6 months for the movie to come out on DVD...and watch it in the comfort of your own home. Especially with the crap that's come out of Hollywierd in the last 30 years.

Loved Elysium, even though I agree it could have been a bit more in depth.
IMO, they don't do enough of that type story line. Too many people want to see antihero, and villans that turn good. Surprise! Elysium went into a civil war 50 years ago, and is as terrible as earth is! What, the little girl dies before she gets to the med chamber?
We see enough of that morally ambiguous and depressing crap in real life, why in God's name would you want to pay to see it?
One thing I'm excited about is that a friend of mine at Universal studios says they've been considering making a film out of Halo: Reach, since they dropped the idea of using Chief (says because they don't want to choose between committing to 6 films, or pissing off viewers)

To be expected; it's an indie sci-fi film. It's a good one though, so it's worth the extra miles...

Saw The Conjuring (VERY good movie) and Pacific Rim. I also saw Epic with my little 4 year old cousin, she liked it so I guess its a good kids movie. I still want to see Elysium. District 9 was a good movie so I bet this one is gonna be good too.
However the second movie I saw should have been called Pacific Rim job... It sucked it hard.

Iron Man 3, which TECHNICALLY falls under the summer movie season, and The Wolverine.
Wolverine was REALLY good, and FINALLY an "original cast" X-Men film that was worth watching after X3 and Origins screwed everything up (X-Men and X2 were great, though). Here's hoping Days of Future Past fixes the "present" movies. According to James Marsden (Cyclops in X-X3) Bryan Singer told him he wants to fix the series after the mess X3 left it in, so here's hoping for a major-league retcon. I think it helped they used the 80s Claremont miniseries as the basis for the story in Wolverine (and adapting the DoFP storyline should REALLY help that one). X3 could have been a LOT better had they followed the same approach and ACTUALLY adapted either the Phoenix or Dark Phoenix Sagas to fit the X-Film verse. The version of both story lines they did back in the early-90s on the old X-Men 'toon were INCREDIBLE (for that matter, X-Men may be right up there with Batman TAS as one of the best superhero cartoons EVER).

I've heard mixed things on the 3rd iron man. In your opinion, is it better than the first 2?
-
The Lone Ranger. I gave up after that.

Better than 2, not as good as 1. It's a bit more comedic than the previous two, but seeing as it's "coming down" from The Avengers (which while not Dark Knight serious, was still a heavier film than any of the solo outings leading up to it) it makes a bit of narrative sense for the next phase of the series to begin on a "breather episode."

The Worlds End
The new Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead movie.
FUNNY AS HELL.
-
I personally enjoyed watching The Lone Ranger. I do plan on seeing Disney's Planes sometime soon.
-
Oz the Great and Powerful
Ironman 3
Star Trek
Superman- 12 year old daughter was rather taken with how "hot" Superman was :huh
The Conjuring- again with the daughter. Pretty good flick and to be honest the first horror movie in years to give me the heebie jeebies.

So you were the one!

Normally i never went to see movies, but a group from work goes almost every Tuesday since its only 5.25$, so i have been going a lot this year...
Olympus has fallen - thought this was a really good movie though I think this would have been spring. What is funny is that another movie, white house down (with Channing Tatum), has recently come out or has yet to be released but has the same exact plot.
Iron Man 3 - liked it, though was a little more serious than I was expecting.
The Purge - thought it sucked, though it was suspenseful at times
This is the end - absolutely loved it!
World War Z - was actually pretty good. It could have been a few minutes longer though just to finish up the ending. I heard they did an alternate ending for it.
After Earth - had a good basis, but was just too rushed. For that reason, it would only get a 3.5/10 from me.
Despicable Me 2 - thought it was pretty good, especially the ending.
And just tonight... Five of us from the FBO I work at went and saw:
Planes- absolutely loved it! Was happy to see that neither of the trailers gave the movie away. They also did a really good job of getting the facts and animations right. The best part was that for every character of the movie, we were able to relate an actual employee of our flight school to that character, lol.

I heard an interview with the lead consultant and he made sure little things most people would miss like props rotating/counter rotating correctly were done right. I don't think it will be as good as Cars, but it will be much better than Cars 2.

I think it was just as good, though I never saw Cars 2
