Taadaaa! I finished my tailslide video. What an absolute nightmare it was trying to do a live commentary during the first part while flying the plane. :bolt:
Hopefully this answers some of your questions on how I fly backwards :D

I'm thinking of starting a new series where I take a look at other players fights and review it for them telling them what they did right and what they did wrong and where they can improve. I'm not sure how well this would go so if anyone has film of a fight that I can try this out with then that'd be great. I think I could use ahfilm, but it'd be better if it was recorded with your views so I know what you were looking at. :salute

I have never seen a better instructional video. Well done.
I fly a P38. It will be interesting to try. Even if I can't do it , I now understand what happens when I see the move. :salute

:salute Nice job thanks for posting.

Can't tail slide in a P38, due to the counter prop rotation

Dude no offence but put some pants and socks on. I nearly puked when i saw footstains on your pedals.

Great, now when I know its Latrobe I'm fighting, I have to try and block out the image of his feet along with trying to keep his nose off me while he's flying backwards.
Very well done video. :D

For Gods sake put some sock on man......All kidding aside that was a great tutorial and the 3 views was an awesome idea you can see everything you do to pull off the move. I am looking forward to any future tutorials you do :salute
One more thing how did you get the film viewer to show your flight path?
-
For someone that said they dont explain things very well.....you sure did a hell of a good job explaining it :aok
-
I agree with the other posters - excellent tutorial and explained well!
Thank you very much!
I think this last ditch maneuver works much better with AC that accelerate well, like a 109, spit, etc. to get results out of a P-47, you have a very brief opportunity to get your shot off after the overshoot against 90% of the AC you face in the MA.

I don't own any socks. I'm a very poor person. ;)
On the right side of the film viewer you'll see 4 boxes you can check: guncam, icons, use redorded views, and trails. Trails will show you the paths.

Thanks :salute

Well ill be waiting to :ahand the lemmings trying to do this move every 10 seconds of a fight! :rofl
Good video though :aok

In real life you would have an almost instantaneous spin the second you pull back on the stick the least bit with that much rudder fed in.

You can do a tailslide in a P-38 in this game. It's not hard at all, just need to extend your zoom to the point of stall and you can pretty much let gravity do the work for you, the only thing you need to do is keep the nose up as you start to slide downward on your tail and then just let your nose flip over as you slide downwards. Just like in this maneuver diagram.

Exactly. This is nothing more than a flight model loophole. In the old days of Aces High this was not possible but became easily done whe the FM was changed around 2007/08

I wasn't always poor. I am now. Partly thanks to a marble desk I bought. :)

Since this it the case the maneuver that some of us do isn't correctly dubbed a tail slide.
Would you happen to know the correct term?

I loved the vid was extremely helpful. Maybe i wont have :ahand to me so much in stall fights :bolt:

Wow girl, shave your legs! :O
Good tutorial and especially good that you emphasized the limited use of this move.
-
This is not really a maneuver, but I'm not really agreeing with Nath either. This is more of a departure stall, into a secondary stall. In other words, it's a screw up that might save you, except it's actually two screw ups in a row.
So, you might dub it the double-pork, or you might just look up "over the top stall." Just saying.
-
excellent idea with the 2 cameras! (smurfy legs btw)
It is difficult to explain what inputs are needed for which moves but I will say the best and most effective ones use very short crisp movements that snap the plane into said stall / slide, then regain control. It still takes countless hours of practice and experience to perform perfect stall turns, slides and whips. Also the timing and application of each loop and stall. Attempting it at the wrong time or wrong separation from your opponent can have very different outcomes.
I guess what I'm saying is be a one trick pony at your peril.

Very well done. :aok
