The reseting of the perks in CT.

apparently somewhere it is stated that with every new scenario the perks are reset?.Ive never read it.

well im sorry but EVEN MORE SO in CT people who play more often, IE support the arena should not be punished by losing all perks.

I had gathered a fair amount of perks in CT right from when it first started using them in the english channel map.I didnt use them very much as i prefered (not always!!) to fly the mid range planes.

well after playing for around 4 days in CT in the last set up i started to lose a bit of interest in the selection of planes, imo 4-5 days would be about the best time to swap maps/scenarios to maintain the most interest but a week is fair as CMs have enough to do already so a week or so seems fine.If you noticed over the last few days(from friday) the average in CT seemed to dwindle a bit.BUT I looked forward to the promised eastern front scenario and some new planes to fly.

I arrive and see me262,ta152,doras etc and i think fantastic ill fly those, absolutely sure id have easy enough perks but no, they are reset to 0!!! It just made me think 'what roadkill' to be honest. If you are going to have a perk system in the CT reseting is no way to encourage old players to stay in the CT.

I consider myself very much a CT type of player and i logged off so i wonder how many that are not CT types logged in saw they had no way to fly the new additions and just went to the MA??

(even worse I went MA and knits were down to 2 or 3 bases all being attacked and I logged that too(yesterday spent defending). :( )

thats the first time ive logged into AH and within minutes i logged out and played another game instead.

I dont know who decided this would be a good idea but i certainly dont agree with it.

P.s. before you start the BS stop whining crap. how else are we supposed to put our view accross other than disagreement when we dont agree? so NO BS 'stop whining' crap just an explanation as to why all CT perks are getting reset each scenario please.

There are two reasons for the resetting of perk points to zero:

1)  The aircraft matchup is designed to see a majority of the aircraft being unperked.  If the Germans could fly Me262's all the  time, then it would be unbalanced.  Plus it would be ahistorical.  And after all this is supposed to be a historically based Arena.  Many players as you mention, had acquired quite a few points flying in the CT Arena when it was the Europe map.  I personally had 40-50 points.  With those accumulated points, I think we would have seen a lot of people flying Jets on the German side and things would have got out of balance.  As it is, the 262's, TA-152' and Arados are much cheaper than in the MA, so it doesn't take much time to build up the perks to fly them.  Which brings us to my second reason, which was not the most important but was a factor:

2)  By holding out the promise that they can fly all these yummy perk planes for an inexpensive price, the designer, (that's me) was encouraging people to fly in the CT.  You have to fly to accumulate the perks...  Thus hopefully, numbers go up.

Perks are used here as primarily a play balance tool.  If you understand that, then you may accept my reasons.

I have no opinion about it but I can see where hazed is pissed.

However CT started with the Norway map I had run up a chunk o'perks myself in that map. However when we changed to the Euro map and all perks were reset then as well.

I dont know if this was a policy thing or what but it is consistant with changing the map amd resetting the perks.

I am more concerned with eny values but that seems to have been addressed.

like hazed, i hate to sound like a whinney ass, but i totally agree with the hazedmiester.

don't get me wrong buzz...love the work, and want you guys to keep it up, but the perk thingie blows.    :eek:

I will chime in on the other side of the coin, I like the perks being reset. I had 200+ when the new map came, so I had more than most maybe.  However I like flying the La5 or the G2 or G6. I like meeting those AC as well. So reset them, the though t of playing "dodge the jet" the whole week does not sound inviting to me :) So I hope the points are reset every change.

I think it bites.

I understand there's a difference of opinion in ENY values and such, and I leave that stuff in deference to the CT regulars. I guess that this sort of thing is endemic to the experimental nature of the CT.

But as an occasional "popper-in"; it bites.

Guys, Like I've been saying all along since the re-opening of the CT, "Perk Values have not been set yet". The way it was, you could pick up 20 perks a sortie, and you want to keep the perks accumulated with the system like that? I had almost 300 points and I didn't fly that often, and I sure wasn't flying to live.

Having the points reset at the end of each 2 weeks insures the use of the earlier war planes, and makes the late-war monsters a rare occurence, like many of them were in the war. There's no other real way to do this and keep the planeset the way we want it.

I Like the current setup. I had load of points too but Who cares if we lose them. Its back to a level playing feild again.

As it is we have a nice Normal planes set which will gradually see increased Perk planes as tour continues. Heck I bet the LAst Day or two will be A perk spending spree Before reset.

I say keep re-seting perks And MAke them Higher too they seem too low.

Oh Id Just like to Add thet B 26 should definetly be Perked, while MAking the Obj value for Il2 fairly easy to Accumulate Buff perks.

I gotta question. I see where some guys flying the LW side were getting very high returns for their sorties, one guy said 137? I flew mostly the P-47 and the spitfire and I never got returns like that. Most of mine mirrored MA values. A couple of 7 kill sorties yielded 10-13 points.  ANyway, what did the german side have that gave up so many points?

Are you refferring to the last day or two ammo, or the time when the perk system was not set?

If you are refferring to before yesterday, the perk system was not being used, and was not setup, therefore crazy returns that didn't count.

Heath, I am not sure exactly what days ammo is referring to, definitely before yesterday, but I do know that Axis pilots got a heckuva lot more perkies for kills than Allied fliers did.
Example, I hop in a 109G2, go out get 2 or 3 kills, 27.5 perkies.  Later, get in a P47D11, get 5 kills, 5.75 perkies.  Take a 190A5, kill 3 Mossies, a goon, and a Spit, WOW!  52 perkies!  Something was definitely fediddleed with the perk system prior to the map change Saturday.
As to hazed's initial disagreement with the perk reset, I am gonna straddle the fence with this one.  If hazed thought he could just log on, hop in a jet and run around in an untouchable ride, then I pretty much disagree with him.  I didn't know the 262 was used on the Eastern Front anyway, I thought it was used primarily against American/British on the Western Front.
If hazed was thinking he would log and and earn a few more perkies before hopping in a jet, I think maybe he had a point.
What gets me is someone logging in wanting to jump in a pretty much untouchable ride, then getting mad and logging out when he finds out he can't!  Sheesh!

I consider myself "pretty much a CT type", hazed, but I don't log on thinking I should automatically get the top planes.  I pick whatever is available and go have fun.  
If you are upset 'cause you can't fly the G10, Ta152, or Me262 right off the bat, how "CT type" are you, really?  Don't want to see a level playing field, if it isn't in your favor it ain't fair?

I had nearly 600 perks from the euro map but then eny value matched the main. I flew a5s and g2s. In one sortie i remember 3 p47s flying real tight formation I came outa the clouds and fired 1 burst from d250 and killed all 3. lol

Since the creation of the ct cms and it being Christmas I hadn't been in the ct enough to recall but I never had a perk run over 17.

The key to any perk system is eny values. I dont think that just because a plane is percieved "better" its eny vale should automatically be lo. I think eny values should mirror usage. The plane with the highest eny value should be the plane non perk plane used the least. Perk planes should have an eny value anywhere from 1-5 at the highest.

No doudt the la5 will be the most used planes overall and either the g6 or most likely the f8 will be used the least.

Perk planes should be just as rare in the ct as they are in the main.

The 262 is restricted in the fields it can be flown from.  Only two fields, A62 and A63 are enabled for the 262.   These fields are in Germany.  No fields in the Baltic countries are enabled for the 262.

The 262 did fly against the Russians, especially at the later stages of the war when they were closing in on Berlin.  However the bases were always in Germany.  And  they were special bases with longer runways, field protection staffels of 190D9's etc.

I fly mostly LW, but I agree with the perk reset. 262 is still much cheaper than in MA.
We should see more 262's than needed in the CT within a couple of days anyway.

So basicaly I will have to adopt the attitude of spend my perks because they will be taken away from me in the interest of game play. As apposed to my MA attitude of hord them!  :) If some day they did somthing like this in the MA I would go postal for shure. Howeaver in this case I simply did not have all that many perks, under 500 altogether, comparied to my MA total of over 10,000 this is chump change. Somtimes I just sit in the hanger and have a Singlemalt and look at my perks on the clipboard...for hours on end  :) Spend theam? good god man ! NEVER  :)

I never spend my perk points. Countless times I wish I could have given them to my  squadies.

I certainly understand why hazed was upset and can't blame him. For me though, "perks" never will be a factor.

ok i guess i cant accept it now i know its a 2 week reset policy, but damn couldnt you have let us spend some perks for a day or so?

i had 200 odd bomber perks, 150 odd fighter and just felt like i was robbed     :D so im offering a reward.......

agree on reseting perks.

I don't use 'em anyways, though I might since this is the CT and different than the MA.  Besides, they come fast.  Ripped up 3 LW birds in a La5, and had more than half the points for a La7.
