Title: Pop Quiz
Post by: Dragon Tamer on August 26, 2013, 04:49:25 PM
The rules are simple, someone posts something and everyone tries to figure out what it is. It can be anything, but it should be something that most if not all the forum members can get right. Don't post something like Navier Stokes equations (for the record I have no clue what that is I just Googled complex equations).

The first person to get the answer correct gets a cookie and is the one who will post the next. If someone thinks they got the answer right but they were actually wrong, their item should be ignored and return to the previous item on the list. The person that thought they were right will receive: a potato. If no one is able to get the right answer after a few guesses from each member, then the object is forfeit and the OP must post something new or pick the user who had the best guess.

If you are posting something like a video (or anything else for that matter), make sure it doesn't have the answer in the title or URL.

-------------------------------------

I'll start with some lyrics, name the song and the next question is yours. Name the song and post all its lyrics for credit.

I've got an unfortunate feelin'
I've been beaten down
I feel I don't believe
And now the truth is coming out
What they've taken is more than a vow
They've taken your innocence
And then they throw them on a burning fire

Pearl Jam......Mind Your Manners

I've got an unfortunate feelin'
I've been beaten down
I feel I don't believe
And now the truth is coming out
What they've taken is more than a vow
They've taken your innocence
And then they throw them on a burning fire

[Chorus]
All along they're sayin'
Mind your manners

I caught myself believin'
That I needed God
And if it's hard for some
We sure could use it now

Try my patience
My patience tried
This world's a lonely living
That makes me wanna cry

[Chorus]
All along they're sayin'
Mind your manners

It's all they're sayin'!

[Bridge]
Self-realized and metaphysically redeem
May not live another life
May not solve a mystery
Right around the corner
Could be bigger than ourselves
We could will it to the sky
Or we could something else

[Chorus]
No longer sayin!
Mind your manners!

Always praying!

[Bridge]

Go to Heaven
That's swell
How do you like it
Livin' Hell
[X3]

Yes, your turn to ask a question.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention, you can use any tools at your disposal.

To keep the ball rolling, may I suggest people can be free to post guesses to any prior unanswered questions as well as their own questions without waiting for confirmation? We can have multiple Q&A battles going on at once - just be sure to reply to the post you want to respond to.

I think I'll add the rule that if the person who answered doesn't post a question within... 3 hours, then they forfeit their question to the next person who can post (first come first serve).

Very well, I've got one:

What did ShtGn find cuddling with him in bed at 2:30 in the morning? Be specific.
*You could call it a "mean fiddle", but not the kind Charlie Daniel's plays!
*Not one to be extroverted, it can be found in more secluded areas.
*Its eyes are as numerous as its appendages.

Gonna have to go with tinkles on this guess.

Assuming that shotgunneeley is out for the night, Tinkles you can post your question. We'll find out in the morning if you were right. If you weren't then we go back to shotgunneeley's question.

I also wanted to add that you can use any tools at your disposal (besides PMing the OP).

I'll accept it. Specifically I was looking for the brown-recluse aka "fiddle-back" spider. Woke up and felt it crawling over my leg, don't know how I got out of being bitten.

What aircraft was used as a reconnaissance aircraft in the movie Battle of the Bulge? Henry Fonda was pictured in it once, maybe twice. What plane should they have used?

My turn:

Who wrote this (roughly translated)?

Don’t leave me
You have to forget
Everything can be forgotten
Which already fled
Forget the time
of misunderstandings
And the time
Lost without knowing for
Forget those hours
Which sometimes killed
Hitting with why's
The heart of happiness
Don’t leave me

I’ll offer you
Beads of rain
From lands
Where rain doesn’t fall
I’ll dig the earth
Until beyond my death
To cover your body
With gold and light
I’ll build a place
Where love will be king
Where love will be law
Where you will be queen
Don’t leave me

Don’t leave me
I'll invent
Crazy words
That you’ll understand
I’ll tell you the tale
Of those lovers
Who have lived twice
Their hearts set ablaze
I'll tell you
The story of this king
Who died of not having
been able to meet you
Don’t leave me

Often, one could see
Fire pouring out
of an ancient volcano
Which was thought too old
There are, so it seems
Scorched fields
Giving more wheat
Than the best April
And when evening comes
To set the sky ablaze
Aren’t red and black
Marrying each other?
Don’t leave me

Don’t leave me
I won’t cry anymore
I won’t talk anymore
I’ll hide there
To look at you
Dancing and smiling
And to listen to you
Singing and then laughing
Let me be
The shadow of your shadow
The shadow of your hand
The shadow of your dog
Don’t leave me

Just a guess but it sounds like an Alexander Pushkin work.

No, it's more recent than that.

Hint: it's a song which has been adapted in english and recorded by many american and brit singers including Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey and Dusty Springfield.

Well it looks like I've broken the game...  :D

Revival attempt and 2nd hint: Title of the song adapted in english is 'If you go away'...

New one, a riddle though:

Dressed in black and often upsets the natives, she's one that will stab in the back.

Edit oh sorry I just reread your last post, I initially read it to mean you were giving it away, not "revival"...

Sorry

mine can wait
