Title: Each Tour Having a Early-Mid-Late week?
Post by: Randy1 on August 28, 2013, 06:18:45 AM
I figured this has been tried and or wished before.  Thought I would ask anyway since it would be great fun to experience these early era war planes.

It seems to me it would be more interesting if each Tour started with the Early war the first week then Mid war the second week then Late far to finish the tour out.  Of course the plane selection would follow the era.

To make it work, the Map might have to reset at the week change.

I would think HTC could then eliminate the limited use arenas and still give the early and mid war folk an increase in action.

Rolling plane set... Many say thats what killed Warbirds, and most people hate it.

I wonder if that is because the Late war high performance plane users have a difficult time in the lower powered planes era?

This, rolling plane set SUCKS. People will ONLY play when their ride is available. Including me.

Yes  :devil

The EW & MW plane sets are already available in their respective arenas. Very few players use either of them.

Current arena populations:
EW - 0
MW - 3
LW - 93

I don't know if its more difficult because they are still flying against other EW and MW aircraft. Plain and simple people just don't like it. I assume its the war fighters more then anyone else. Most of the EW MW stuff isnt as capable of base taking as the Late War stuff. Whatever the reason people dont like being told what they can't fly.

Sad, but true.  So many nice planes to sample, so few who want to try on something new.

I do see what y'all are saying.  I guess that is the reason the high performance planes like the 51s, 190s, la7s and 109s dominate the tour numbers.  There have been numerous threads on high performance planes let pilots with few ACM skills compete so no sense going there.  The populous has spoken.

I thought it was a great idea but I can see now why it would fail.

no, it's because i pay 15 bucks a month to fly any plane i feel like flying.  If I wanted my choices limited I would go play wart thunder or world of crap planes for free.

This.

Gotta give you credit though, Randy.  At least your post isn't going the 'But this time it'll really work guys!" route.  It's been tried.  Few things are more vehemently reviled by the majority.

Agreed.  I'd likely claw my eyes out if I couldn't fly what I want when I want.  :aok for the suggestion tho'!

I think the only thing worse would be implimentation of some sort of "Level" system based on experience, points and the purchase of ingame "money" (let's agree, for grins and giggles, to call them "Golden Lions") to buy specific plane sets, add-on packs and weapons......

Hey.....wait a minute...that sounds vaguely familiar.....  :D

I don't think it should limit or impose on customers how they can spend their time.

That being said, I've wished before for a perk multiplier that could be used for special events or to give bonus yields for a "Early/Mid/Late War Week" in the past.  So, I'm definetley for the idea of encouraging and influencing (with an incentive) participation for those who may wish to choose to participate, and not pigeonhole or deprive anything from those players who want to do whatever else they want.

Maybe we could have "Mid War Monday" where the first Monday every month where LWMA is closed for 24 hours......

After reading the replies, they add credence to Vinkman's wish-list argument to include the P63.

No thank you. I do not even fly when the ENY denies me the plane of my choice. This would guarantee I fly only at certain times, and since that would invariably be when I am doing something else, it would result in me leaving more than likely.

Not so fast. You're advocating a rolling plane set. He's pushing a 10 to 1 ratio modeling
late-war monster rides over historical gap-fillers. Not the same dart board for comparison
sake.  ;)

Maybe I'm missing something here.  You are still able to fly Early/Mid war aircraft in the Late War
arena right?  So it's not so much limiting your plane choice as it is limiting others.  Many of those
others choose not to fly non uber stuff, so forcing them to do so is a very bad business practice.

why?????

are you getting bored already?

I remember when you were asking for help on getting good.....well I must say you have gotten good at being "conservative" in the 38 until you have 4 friends with you....then and only then did you get aggressive.... :rofl

why don't you get out of that 38 (I call it the excuse plane) climb into a real fighter and fight.....all I see from you is typical MA ganging..... that is lame and no fun what so ever....

you would find a much more challenging game.

if this offends you....well they do say the truth hurts.....I say if the truth hurts...change your reality.

Great, another "play the way I want" wish! People, get over it, it is none of your business what planes people fly nor why they fly them.

 :headscratch:

:rofl  Look at my K/D.  I like jumping in a furball.  I don't run from a fight unless I can use a run to gain advantage or I have a half dozen or more 109s,190s and mustangs chasing me.  Nothing funnier for a P38 stick then being chased by a horde.

Keep in mind, this was not a wish but a point of discussion.  Skuzzy made it a wish.

Is there a problem with flying EW/MW planes in LW now?  No.  I've been flying the Spit MkI exclusively in the LWMA for the past three weeks getting ready for BoB abd I don't even have to limit other people's plane choices to do so.

No way! Can't be true. It falls against Vink's data.  :D

If something can be done to tweak the EW and MW arenas to draw more people in you probably wouldn't even need to consider a rotating plane set.

Double perks in mid. Triple in early. Of course, if the population remains skewed then the 'perk-farming' may increase. But then, we're talking about trying to find a way to un-skew the population.

As the OP on this one I withdraw the idea and the Skuzzy deemed wish of multi-era tours.  It not only ruffled a few feathers but it just doesn't have enough horsepower to fly.

so I guess making 4 lame passes....head back up 3 plus K away is actually fighting.....well I will say you did get aggressive once you had 4 friendlies with you...... :rofl

I don't need to look at anything when I saw your "fighting" first hand. :aok

Yeah, a LOT of people don't seem to get what aggressive BnZ actually is. If you're extending past 1.5k, (as much of it should be vertical separation as possible) you're really going too far. Was tangling with a Yak in MW last night while in an F4F that would make a single HO pass, then run for 5000 yards. Had some fun with him after I landed and grabbed a -1, that's for sure. :D

MA is in a sad state...sux very few truly want to fight and wont unless they are guaranteed a win....pathetic actually....when 3 spits and a 47 fly away from a Ki that has 2 k on them.....

I just don't friggen get it....my first sortie in the MA I flew towards the biggest red dar and proceeded to attack like 15 guys....been flying like that ever since....I just don't understand the whole fly to survive in a game about combat.....I guess some really think if their cartoon lives they get more chicks or something..... :rofl :rofl :rofl

I had a good 2v1 (my 1, their 2) in MW last night shortly before reset. Yak and a 190 vs my -1. Had alt and E on them, kept it tight. Watched them adjust their tactics with the 190 extending away from the Yak, probably trying to get me to over-commit so he could swing back around. Took a bit of a chance and fired off a snapshot on the Yak then picked up the 190 come back in, (couldn't tell if I hit the Yak, he was below my nose) so I grabbed a bit of speed and spiral-climbed above them to get them corralled together where I could keep an eye on them both. For whatever reason at that point the Yak dove for the field, not sure if he was just trying to land before reset or if I got a PW and he decided to pull out, or if he was just low on gas (they had just captured the base). Either way, got down to be a 1v1 against the 190. Got him pushed almost down to the deck and was getting ready to close in to finish the fight (knew I'd have had him, too, barring some tremendous mistake on my part) before the arena reset.

You keep trying the 2k advantage of alt with these results as you have been reporting in this forum for a few years now. What happens when you don't have your alt advantage from the start? Why do you need 2k on them with your ACM ability?

it all depends on how I am shooting that day... :aok

I have done great, but most times I am a horrible shot so it doesn't work very well no matter the ALT. :rofl
