:airplane: Makes no sense to me that you can kill the ords at a base, yet enemy can still land and re-arm ords, ammo and fuel! AH should consider if ords are down, then the re-arm pad should be disabled until the ords come back up.

How many times has this wish "or similar to it" come up in the last month?

If you take down ords, make sure you strafe planes on the rearm pad so they are forced to up with no bombs, fuel.

Linking the re-arm pad to the hangar would have this added benefit, as well.

Yes, because it's completely impossible that there would be a ready use ammo storage in a hot pad
area that wasn't completely dependent on ammo bunker storage. After all, it's important to stack all
your BBs in the same bunker so as not to make the enemy attacker's run more difficult

I thought that Rearming was stopped if the pads buildings were destroyed :headscratch:

it would be impossible if there was no such thing as a rearm pad...and there wasn't. bombs and gasoline at airfields were kept away from the hangars and flight line until they were ready to be loaded on the planes, then they were brought to the planes wherever the plane was parked. the planes weren't running when they were getting armed/fueled up.

This kind of makes sense. If ords are down, then when you re-arm you get fuel and bullets/cannon only. Pondering.... :headscratch:

:airplane: You are correct sir and my intent is just what I said: If the ords are down at a field, where in the heck are they getting ords to rearm aircraft? Maybe a refuel pad if ords are down, but that should be all, unless someones destroys the fuel tanks, then they shouldn't be able to refuel until fuel tanks come back on line. Makes no sense, even if this is a "game"! :bhead
-
What is saying about dont keep all your eggs in one basket :rofl
I think that applies here. MG/CAN and fuel should be a the rearm pad if ords are down.
It would be possible for a fuel truck in real life to fill up a aircraft even if the fuel tanks are down because he still has a load of fuel. Same with ords but bombs and rockets kinda going far
-
There is always a supply of weapons in the FARP. That way the fuelers don't have to go to the stockpile to get it, and can do a hot rearm.

Maybe they use the ords that have been taken out of the bunkers previously. And fuel trucks could have fuel left. AH does not have airfield transport vehicles modeled, but i imagine that this could be the case. Anyone can shut down the engine during rearming if it bothers them. I like this actually, but maybe the rearm pads should be made destroyable too.

During a hotpad, the aircraft are ready to be rearmed. Now it's been almost 30 years, but I
distinctly remember the engines running during the refuel. I can't remember if they shutdown
to reload the nosegun, but I imagine they could at least shut down number 1 <left engine> so
the weapons crew didn't need to be concerned about it though.
Oh yeah, we also didn't wait for ord to be shipped from the "ammo bunkers" to be loaded on.
Now this is in the early 1980s, and it wasn't like we were the first ones to try it. Also it is
primarily meant as a wartime tactic for boosting sortie rates, and we were at peace.

Thank you, that's what I was saying. One of the reasons you didn't see alot of hotpadding in WW2
is that often your target was hundreds of miles away and it wasn't as time critical as trying to rearm
when enemy aircraft are 2 minutes out.

no you wouldn't have been the first ones to try it but you weren't dealing with a big spinning propeller and hot exhaust blowing back over the wing root...the one thing you do not want is gas fumes being ignited while trying to refuel a piston engine aircraft.
jets vs prop planes...try again.

Make a requirement that your hot pad rearm won't start until you shut down. Plane or GV. But, then that means you cannot go to full throttle and scoot if needed. You are stuck a bit longer paying the piper for not towering on landing.
