I've been searching for years trying to find the name of a recce Mosquito which appeared in an old B&W film commissioned by de Havillands. In the film, it's clear the RAF markings have been roughly painted over and USAAF markings applied over the top, along with a flying pinup girl noseart and a name. Until now that name has been a mystery to me.
Now I find it's been added to the description of a pic of the aircraft here, fourth pic on the page:

All apparently part of the Jeff Ethell collection, which starts here:

Is that an actual in use scheme or was it just for the film?

"the all reed [.red] tail surface was an attempt to distinguish the type from the German Me410 which was very similar in shape and design. NS739 was built at the Hatfield Plant, and had a distinguished and lengthy career, surviving the war, and a being finally stuck off the RAF inventory in 1947."
I'd assume the red tail was used.

The red tail was, yes. I was asking about the nose art. :p

So far as I know, yes, it was. NS739 certainly saw service with the 25th BG.
