Title: ahfilm.exe has stopped working
Post by: FA_Refugee on September 01, 2013, 11:56:05 AM
This is what I get when I try to open the film viewer.   This just started recently it worked fine in the past.

Any suggestions on correcting this problem?

Are you using a desktop ICON, or starting it from the Windows "Start" menu?

A version mismatch could cause the problem.  For example, if you drug a the film viewer to the desktop, it would not get patched/updated and a subsequent patch would break it.

Typically, to correct this problem, it is easier to remove the desktop ICONs for the game and film viewer and them do a complete installation of the game over the top of the existing installation and allow the installer to recreate the desktop ICON's.

I don't have a film viewer icon on the desktop.  I do have the AH game icon on the DT but I don't use it.  I use the start menu to open the game.
I'm opening the film viewer START>ALL PROGRAMS>ACES HIGH>AH FILM VIEWER

If I do a complete installation over the existing installation please explain that process and what do I need to do to preserve my settings, skins, film, etc.

edit:
I'm running Win7

I had similar issues, and just went to my my computer and went through there. You might also might want to check your firewall to see if it will allow AH film viewer.

If  you need to re download the game,to  preserving skins, sounds, and films, settings, etc.
copy them to a different folder and rename them like settings_1, skins_2 and so on.

Do not remove your current game installation.  Just install over the top of the old installation and that will preserve all your settings.

Also, one last thing to note.  If your "films" folder gets too many files in it, then Windows will not allow the film viewer to run.  Try renaming the old "films" folder to another name, then create a new "films" folder and see if that fixes it.

The new installation fixed it.
